Associate Director, Real Estate Development – Sacramento Office

The Associate Director of Real Estate Development provides leadership for housing development projects in the Sacramento region and within the development team, and supervises at least two development staff, including project developers and assistants. Focused primarily on executing existing pipeline, including troubleshooting problems as they arise. Project manages no more than two projects. Supports Director/VP Real Estate Development on business development initiatives. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Pay: $135,000-150,000/salary DOE

Duties:

  • Supervise at least one Housing Developer I or II and a Project Assistant. Promote and coordinate staff development activities. This includes overseeing evaluation and goal setting for direct reports and cultivating their professional development.
  • Represent the regional office in matters relating to the housing development work of the organization. Maintain communication with federal, state, and city officials, and other local housing providers.
  • Establish housing production and fee collection goals in coordination with the regional team.
  • Meet regularly with the regional Vice President of Real Estate Development and team and provide reports. Provide reports and present information to the regional board.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of public funding priorities and requirements and help the Real Estate Division take a strategic approach to project selection and development.

Minimum Qualifications of Position

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in planning, housing development, or related experience.
  • Successful completion of at least five (5) multi-family, senior, or special needs housing development projects.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications of Position

  • Master’s Degree or advanced certification in a related field.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail, and technical project management. Meet deadlines and work under pressure, with interruptions. Prioritize effectively with tight time constraints. Work on several projects at the same time with constant interruptions.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and relationship management skills. Resolve conflicts through negotiations and maintain relationships during difficult situations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite.
