Looking for an Associate Engineer of Protective Relay and Controls to join the protective relay strategy department and work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop, test and manage protection and control system standards, including philosophy documents, relay settings guidelines, calculation sheets, relay configuration files, drawings, and test templates. In this role, you will study industry best practices and support technological advancements to enhance established standards, perform engineering analysis, evaluate new hardware/software solutions, and support deployment of protection system upgrade programs. You will assist in the implementation of new strategies, initiatives, and processes to advance the design, operation, and reliability of P&C system. Must be comfortable working cross functionally with other sections in the department including asset management and remote monitoring and analytics of substation protection and control devices. Looking for an individual with the ability to manage vendor performance, technical review on relay protection scope to ensure design aligns with approved standards and maintain effective communication in order to monitor feedback and expectations around relay compliance and processes.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
2+ years’ experience in relay protection or power systems engineering
Must possess superior oral and written communication skills, champion change and have the ability to influence others in order to improve the management process.
Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and VISIO.
Valid driver’s license
Comfortable working 3 days/week onsite in NYC
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Working knowledge of various microprocessor relay platforms, software, and IEC 61850 protocol.
Working knowledge of PSS/E CAPE, Aspen or equivalent fault study analysis tools.
