RICK is seeking an environmental planner to join our San Diego office as part of the Environmental Planning Group. This individual will prepare CEQA/NEPA documents for a wide range of project types throughout the region including infrastructure and land use development.
Qualifications
Our Ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- BA/BS degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, Sustainability Studies, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or related field
- Mid-Level (3-5 years) of relevant work experience preparing CEQA documents, NEPA experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of impact assessment methods and the CEQA process as well as other relevant state and federal environmental laws including climate change environmental policy.
- Familiar with land use planning and geographic information systems, strong analytical, computer and writing skills are a must
- Daily assignments involve multidisciplinary teams and work products include written documents/reports and presentations; thus effective writing and verbal communication skills are essential
- Willing to learn and develop expertise in environmental regulations and CEQA Project Management
A good driving record is a must.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and manage CEQA and/or NEPA documents, including site assessments, impact analysis, report preparation, and supporting agency coordination
- Conduct comprehensive research on regulation, policies, and best practices to inform project decisions
- Collaborate with RICK partners of biologists, archaeologists, paleontologists, air quality/greenhouse gas specialists, and noise specialists to identify project requirements and develop solutions to meet federal, state, and local environmental regulations
