The Iowa State University Athletics Department is seeking hard working, responsible, motivated candidates for an entry-level, associate position supporting nutrition services within the Sports Nutrition unit. This position will be exposed to professional aspects of collegiate athletics nutrition in a progressive learning mode. Under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian, primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with nutritional planning and providing guidance to athletes on in-season and out-of-season nutrition
  • Assist with developing and delivering educational nutrition materials and/or presentations to student-athletes, coaches, and for recruits
  • Assist with collaboration with food service personnel
  • Assist in supervision and training of student fueling station workers and interns
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and maintaining accurate records Related projects
  • Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare, personal development and success of the student-athletes
  • Establish and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, university staff and administrators, alumni, and the public
  • Demonstrate commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA

The successful candidate must have a good knowledge base of nutrition curriculum; possess solid communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and help write effective educational materials and presentations; be highly organized; and maintain confidentiality. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to work outside normal business hours including evenings and/or weekends for some appointments.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with meal planning and nutritional counseling for athletes.
Registered Dietitian through Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Experience working closely with food service vendors.
