TMC, a LinQuest company is seeking an Associate Manager/Manufacturing to join our team at our office in Las Cruces, NM
The Associate Manager/Manufacturing manages and serves as subject matter expert or functional lead for engineering team(s) consisting of engineers, project leads, and technicians. The Associate Manager – Manufacturing plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the Manufacturing Department to design, process, project, develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services, while achieving optimum use of workers, equipment, materials, and facilities. Also, confers with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Interface with customers for all programs, execute plans to secure an understanding of customer requirements, issues, and needs for future work
- Coordinate meetings with customers before, during and after to ensure satisfaction and to prepare for additional work with the customer
- Attend Engineering Review Boards for the Engineering team
- Provide direction to the engineering team for all programs, processes and procedures
- Monitor funding for open programs and offer suggestions and recommendations for a strategy to complete within schedule and cost constraints
- Support meetings and Program Management Reviews for multiple programs
- Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
- Plan and establish engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates.
- Manage development of material selection standards.
- Recommend and implement new policies and procedures as directed.
- Administer personnel functions, including recruiting, hiring, training, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, selection and placement of personnel, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments.
- Initiate cost reduction proposals from other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes recommendations for action, and checks on results obtained.
- Prepare and control department budget, forecasts operating costs of department, and directs preparation of budget requests.
- Ensure compliance of company policies, procedures, and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects.
- Work on or serves as a resource on projects requiring advanced knowledge of a particular field of specialization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledgeable of RF communications, EW, Mobile SATCOM, and Electronics packaging and integration
- Knowledgeable of MIL-STD Testing to include 810, 461, 464
- Knowledgeable of MIL-STD 31000 requirements and ASME drawing standards
- Working knowledge of CAM packages and their application/integration to a CNC
- Knowledgeable of SAE standards as applicable to manufacturing and quality
- Knowledgeable of general engineering theories and applications
- Knowledgeable of Manufacturing operations to include Welding, Fabrication, Machining, and Electronics Soldering and Assembly
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing with a working understanding of its application
- Ability to identify manufacturing bottlenecks and implements methods to reduce or eliminate
- Ability to source equipment for process improvement or modernization
- Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving capability
- Eligible to receive and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated ability in conducting 6S workshops
- Demonstrated ability in Lean Manufacturing, such as a certified Black Belt
- Experience with MRP systems
- Experience in LRIP manufacturing environments
- Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical manufacturing procedures and methods
- Ability to work in an agile development environment
- Effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
- Have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Years of Experience:
- 5 years in engineering plus 2 years supervisory/managerial experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering field from an ABET accredited institution
Preferred Certifications:
Advanced Degree in a related Engineering or Technical field
Compensation:
- The starting salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000, depending on relevant experience and qualifications
