Associate Marketing Manager / Marketing Manager – Riverhead Books

We are looking for an Associate Marketing Manager or Marketing Manager to join our innovative Riverhead Books team. Riverhead, an imprint of Penguin Random House, is home to award-winning and bestselling authors such as Brit Bennett, Elizabeth Gilbert, Khaled Hosseini, James McBride, Katherine May, Bryan Washington, Lauren Groff, Daniel H. Pink, and many more. In this role, you will create and launch comprehensive marketing campaigns for both fiction and nonfiction titles, contribute to and execute ideas on imprint-wide campaigns and initiatives, create innovative, trend-forward title and brand content across social media platforms, and build and analyze advertising strategy. The ideal candidate possesses strong project management skills, excellent attention to detail, time management, creative prowess, and of course, wide-ranging curiosity and the initiative and drive to generate and execute strategic plans.

As an Associate Marketing Manager or Marketing Manager, you will:

  • Generate, implement, and analyze creative marketing campaigns in conjunction with the Marketing Director and work independently to execute plans
  • Utilize data and research to identify clear messaging, target audience, and marketing strategy around a book’s release
  • Contribute original content to and assist management of the Riverhead social media platforms
  • Manage budgets for assigned titles and maintain flexibility as budgets change over time
  • Communicate key campaign updates with authors, agents, editors, and publishing stakeholders, and collaborate to refine and execute marketing plans
  • Coordinate with divisional and corporate marketing departments on digital advertising campaigns, including creative and messaging
  • Conduct outreach to external organizations, influencers, and brands for large-scale partnership promotions and work with the team to develop creative programming for out book community
  • Coordinate digital advertising campaigns by strategizing targeting and copy, and collaborating with an internal design department on creative concepts and direction
  • Develop imprint and author social media strategy around a book’s release, including content creationand messaging

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years prior related experience in publishing or marketing, with experience working on creative and strategic campaigns
  • Working knowledge of established and emerging social media platforms; interest in spotting and contributing to trending content
  • Interest in brand strategy and working with new authors on developing their brands
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and tasks, keep track of deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent and effective presentation and written communication skills

Select candidates may be considered at the Senior Marketing Manager level if they are a standout fit for the Riverhead Books imprint.

The salary for the Associate Manager level position is $63,000. The salary range for the Marketing Manager level position is $70,000-$73,000.
