POSITION PURPOSE
Support an investment team that manages a debt private placement portfolio and originates new private placement investments. Will provide training in financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and other skills required to manage a portfolio and analyze new transactions.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with portfolio maintenance, including tracking of financial performance and compliance with required terms.
- Assist with the drafting of internal presentations.
- Support team originators by conducting company research and preparing marketing pitchbooks.
- Assist with the preparation of credit memorandums for new transactions.
- Prepare financial models. Learn to analyze financial information to forecast business, industry, and economic conditions used in making investment decisions
- Become proficient in using Bloomberg to help support the team’s needs.
- Gather and analyze company financial statements, industry, regulatory and economic information, keep current on financial periodicals and newspapers.
- Assist with maintenance of timely reporting and closing documentation of new transactions.
- Assist with maintaining the weekly pipeline report, the database of traditional private placement transactions and the contact database. Assist with other portfolio reports and projects as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate degree (BA) required, preferable to have majored in economics, accounting or finance.
- 1+ years of relevant industry or meaningful investment experience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
- Strong team player with the ability to manage and prioritize numerous tasks.
- Strong quantitative skills, with an ability to learn financial statement analysis.
- Ability to understand current events that may impact business issues
Salary range: $70,000-$105,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
