Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Associate Product Designer to join its Wheels product design team. The group is focused on creating new product opportunities for the vehicles category. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate needs to be highly organized and be able to handle a large number of projects at the same time.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Generate new designs and ideas for Disney/Pixar Cars brand
- Work in a team environment with cross functional partners. Collaborate with marketing, development, packaging, and cost engineering to ensure product integrity and product objectives
- Daily communication with Asia partners
- Present and communicate concepts to the design and marketing management and Disney/ Pixar creative team
- Manage design and development with other disciplines within the company including model makers, sculptors, as well as frequent approvals/interactions with our licensors.
- Review pre-production and production samples
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Toy design or related product design experience/education.
- Experience with vehicle, product, or graphic design
- Understanding of 3D design
- Highly detail-oriented and organized to handle multiple projects.
- Toy prototyping skills (foamcore, plastic mock-ups)
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Adobe Creative Suite proficiency
- PowerPoint proficiency
- Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for toy development
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
- Ideal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of current trends
- Understanding of features and play patterns in the toy industry is a must
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving
- A love of toys, vehicles is a plus!
The annual base salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $76,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
