Position Summary:

The Associate Production Manager – Music is an integral member of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) production team, individually responsible for overseeing and coordinating the technical aspects of all productions hosted by the Music Department. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the APM – Music ensures the successful execution of concerts, special events, and projects by managing and advising technical and organizational aspects for all Music Department productions. The APM – Music provides guidance and supervision on all technical aspects related to music productions, implementing high-quality standards and processes that best support on-campus CTSA Music Department productions, while compliant with all safety standards. They will advise, lead and train undergraduate students, graduate students and teaching assistants who are employed as production crews for CTSA’s Music Department’s productions, as needed. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: select, manage and track equipment inventory, stock expendables and repairs, manage and maintain theater facilities and organization, schedule instrument tunings and moving’s, prepare and manage financial budgets and reports.

Responsible for all activities associated with multiple / comprehensive technical aspects of theater productions, including procedures and administering / monitoring budgetary expenditures consistent with budgetary allocations, and training of staff / students. May be responsible for maintenance of theater venues, shops, and storage, including facilities and stage equipment, tools and materials, and establishing and ensuring implementation of operational procedures for all users within the facilities.

$29.26 – $51.29 (Hourly Rate)

Required:

Two to four years of experience in professional work in production management and music related areas, i.e., symphony

Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships, with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Familiarity and understanding of various types of Music and related performance configurations. Communicate in a clear and courteous manner and convey information both orally and in writing. Working knowledge of production/technical elements and venue systems: lighting, audio, costuming, projection, effects, props and scenery. Knowledge of generated power and distribution systems for lighting and audio systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. Ability to set priorities and organize work to meet multiple deadlines. Computer literacy to include knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet, and other production related programs. Vectorworks/AutoCAD experience helpful Ability to train students and casual employees as needed in the operation of lighting/audio equipment within the school to accomplish the educational goals set by the faculty. Superior time management skills. Knowledge of standard safety procedures as outlined by university and OSHA guidelines. Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-venue, multi-performance environment. Experience working in an educational environment.

Preferred:

Professional music recording experience

Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction/instruction. Skills to organize workflow, delegation of responsibility.

Special Conditions Required:

Will be needing to work evenings and weekends for music performances. Lifting and moving equipment individually or with the assistance of others.
