The Associate Project Manager contributes to Starbucks success by providing planning and team support, project management and financial oversight of construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of excellence in delivering the Starbucks experience in our stores. An Associate Project Manager manages the overall development and construction processes so that projects are completed on time and on budget. This role provides opportunity to develop skills to effectively manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. APM’s model and act in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. This position will support our Mid America region.

As an Associate Project Manager- Construction, you will…

• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with Real Estate and Design Partners as well as outside Vendors and Contractors to drive project success.

• Develop and manage budgets for medium to large-scale core store renovation projects, less complex new store and relocation projects, and special project initiatives.

Manage and monitor project schedules to ensure projects are completed on time.

Make site visits to active construction sites to monitor progress and confirm Starbucks quality control standards.

Communicate project status and risks to project participants and stakeholders.

We’d love to hear from people with:

EDUCATION• High School diploma or GED or 4 + years of US military experience

SKILLSProject Management:
• Intermediate project management skill
• Understanding of typical project timeline
• Basic knowledge of budget estimating

Data Management:
• Ability to work within construction database, reporting and order

management software
• Ability to interpret and make fundamental assessments and decisions based on

data and reports.

Construction Knowledge:
• Intermediate knowledge of construction terms and concept
• History of GC and vendor negotiation and management
• Understanding of permitting requirement
• Basic knowledge of Starbucks leasing requirement

Technical:
• Support annual planning & store tour
• Drawing review
• Project Budgets in Siren
• Reinvestment Modeling w/Support
• General Contractor bidding /negotiation
• Manage LL Work
• Delivery of Possession
• LEED Documentation
• Fixed Asset Update
• Punch list
• Reconciliation

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN SPECIFIC FIELD OR DESIGNATED SKILLS• 5+ of progressive experience in a role performing project management job

functions for construction project
• 5+ of experience in a role delivering 15 or more concurrent projects in a retail or

restaurant environment (QSR)
• 5+ of experience in a role bidding and negotiating for construction project
• 3+ of experience in a role performing the following job functions: Conducting

financial analysis, budgeting and planning for construction projects; Managing

construction permits and approvals for the development proce
• 3+ of experience using MS Outlook, MS Excel, and project or construction

management program(s), such as MS Project, Primavera or Timberline system
