This candidate must reside in Puget Sound region. Local travel is required for this position with roughly 10% overnight travel. Relocation is not provided.

This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing planning, project management and financial oversight in new store or renovation construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of excellence in delivering the Starbucks experience in our stores. Manages the construction process so that projects are completed on time and under budget. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

As an associate project manager, you will…

  • Develop and implement annual plan for assigned project(s) or area(s) in partnership with leadership direction, store development team and operations leadership. Actively identifies and manages risk to completion of this plan through regular updates to key team members.
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other teams and resources to drive the organization’s success.
  • Lead and/or delegate all construction related tasks in support of regional goals and assigned project(s) or area(s). Provide project management and leadership to complete all required project tasks for new stores, relocations, expansions, renovations, and programs in assigned area(s). Develop project scope, budget estimates and construction due diligence and feasibility review. Oversee all procurement, bid negotiation and contracting. Ensure properties are delivered from landlords in accordance with the lease documents. Effectively communicates with all team members during construction. Lead project punch list review and project closeout activities.
  • Works collaboratively with construction general contractors, facilities, real estate, and design to generate successful construction methodologies, systems, procedures that lead to optimal outcomes in time, cost and quality of work.
  • Responsible as Starbucks Contract Administrator, ensuring requirements of construction drawings, specifications and Starbucks policies and procedures are implemented on every project.
  • Participates in recruiting, hiring and functional training in support of regional staffing needs.
  • Develops historical cost analysis in support of accurate store cost.
  • Develops and manages budgets consistent with timeline requirements for minor renovations, medium to large-scale core store renovation projects, less complex new store and relocation projects, and special project initiatives, and jurisdictional projects.
  • Develops scope of work in conjunction with design and ops consistent with company needs and budget allowances.
  • Oversees scheduling, bid negotiations and consultant relationships for an area.
  • Manages and monitors project schedules within budget guidelines, progress, and costs to ensure projects are completed on time and effectively. Maintains, adjusts and updates project plans as needed. Consolidates, communicates and manages all issues and risks affecting the project. Communicates project status to project participants and stakeholders accurately and on time.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 5+ of progressive experience in a role performing project management job functions for construction projects
  • 5+ of experience in a role delivering 15 or more concurrent projects in a retail or restaurant environment (QSR)
  • 5+ of experience in a role bidding and negotiating for construction projects
  • 3+ of experience in a role performing the following job functions: Conducting financial analysis, budgeting and planning for construction projects; Managing construction permits and approvals for the development process
  • 3+ of experience using MS Outlook, MS Excel, and project or construction management program(s), such as MS Project, Primavera or Timberline systems
