Job Description:
Responsible for media and public relations plans aimed at supporting the credit card lines of business. Responsible for creating social media content and programs that live on the corporate communications’ owned channels, along with reporting success metrics that go along with the content pieces. Responsibilities include media monitoring, managing media request, writing press release and holding statements, working with company subject matter experts and influencers, and providing counsel to internal business partners. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for creating social media content and programs for PR-owned platforms. Work across business units to actively highlight brand and company initiatives on social media outlets.
- Responsible for starting key strategic PR efforts that support business initiatives, including the launch of new products, new partnerships, events, sponsorships and promotions. Contributions include writing press releases, creating presentation decks for planning purposes.
- Monitors news outlets for key stories related to Discover and the credit card industry. The vendor sends us all the articles that include Discover for a given time frame, the associate then analyzes the content and distributes the relevant articles to a daily clip population. Organizes and distributes daily media clip communications to the organization.
- Leads research efforts on competitive marketplace conditions, media coverage and crisis management, among others, by doing original research using proprietary vendor tools.
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- 1+ years of experience as Journalist, PR Agency Account Representative, Communications Coordinator, or related field
- In lieu of a degree, 4+ years of as Journalist, PR Agency Account Representative, Communications Coordinator, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
- 2+ years of experience as Journalist, PR Agency Account Representative, Communications Coordinator, or related field
Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $51,000.00 to $75,000.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
