New York Life Insurance Company (“New York Life”) is seeking an Associate to provide support to our Regulatory Support and Oversight Unit of our registered investment advisor, Eagle Strategies (“Eagle”).
Eagle Strategies LLC is the Registered Investment Adviser within New York Life’s Wealth Management division. Eagle’s Regulatory Support & Oversight team is responsible for implementing Eagle’s Compliance Program
The Associate will assist in monitoring and supervision of managed account activity, specifically Investment Policy Exceptions, in accordance with Eagle policies and procedures and the Investment Advisors Act. This position will be exposed to and need to develop working relationships with other key areas of the company to build and maintain key relationships across Compliance, Product Development, and field IARs to promote a culture of compliance
This is a hybrid role with Monday and Friday as the designated work from home days and Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday in the office
Major Responsibilities:
• Perform monitoring of all Eagle managed account types for adherence with relevant account parameters and Eagle policies.
• Engage in discovery of facts to support decision making on manner of resolution of flagged accounts.
• Build and maintain key relationships across CCD, OGC and Field force to promote a culture of compliance and a consistent set of practices.
• Develop detailed inquiries to Field Management, including Managing Partners and each of the Supervisory Zones.
• Draft and transmit Disciplinary Action Referrals to Agency Standards as necessary.
• Engage in the design, testing, and implementation of Eagle Investment Policies and platform configuration.
• Collaborate with Internal Consultants, Portfolio Specialists, Compensation, licensing and registrations, and Operations teams on specific cases and projects affecting areas of responsibility.
• Work with Eagle Strategies business partners and IT to develop automation, and ensure any used technology operates correctly and efficiently.
• Identify and support resolution of compliance issues that may arise during daily activities.
• Proactively identify process improvements to leadership and work to implement the solutions to build efficiencies and increase productivity.
• Proactively seek improvements to policy and process with an eye on industry and external resources.
• Support development of trend analysis of Investment Policy Exceptions.
• Maintain sections of Eagle Policies and Procedures and Desk Manuals relevant to areas of responsibility to ensure they are current and accurately reflect implemented processes.
• Maintain and develop training material relevant to areas of responsibility
• Exercise good business judgment and recognize when it is appropriate to escalate an issue.
• Support projects and initiatives as business needs require them.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial services compliance or related area of focus
- FINRA SIE held or obtained within 6 months.
- Familiarity with Investment Advisory regulatory framework, Investment Advisors Act
- MS Office suite and data management proficiency
- Familiarity with Wealthscape and/or Envestnet preferred
- Analytical and communication skills
