Associate Systems Administrator – Los Angeles, CA

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Associate Systems Administrator to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. The Associate Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the maintenance of the technology infrastructure by responding to escalated Service Desk issues and requests. This includes supporting the implementation and management of technology systems and platforms as a first responder to escalated Service Desk issues for the Infrastructure Team, while providing excellent customer service to all PPLA IT customers. The Associate Systems Administrator will report to the Senior IT Infrastructure Manager, and works closely with the other IT team colleagues to support the underlying infrastructure and systems that run all of PPLA’s applications. This position is also responsible for delivering technical services for the Agency, including supporting and integrating with the Microsoft Windows Stack, Citrix, VMware, Cisco, 8X8, Fortinet, Juniper, Dell, HP and more.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree, relevant training, or equivalent experience required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of IT experience, 1 year providing IT Systems and/or Network Administrators with voice and data technical support required.
    • One (1) year experience working in an Agile team preferred.
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience with working in an ITSM solution required.
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VPN, and network switching and routing required.
    • One (1) year working with Cisco, Dell Force10, JunOS, Fortigate, and / or other IT infrastructure technologies preferred.
    • One (1) year experience working with VMware highly preferred.
    • Working understanding of Storage Area Networks (SAN): iSCSI, LUNs, and SAN hardware preferred.
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with Citrix or similar VDI solutions.
    • Two (2) years’ experience managing data backup highly preferred technologies: VEEAM, Backup Exec, etc.
    • Minimum experience of two (2) years working with HIPAA and/or PCI compliance required.
    • Technical certifications preferred, but not required: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, VCP VMWare, Microsoft MCSE
    • Healthcare experience preferred.

About the position:

    • Act as an escalated level of support for Tier 2 and Tier 3 issues escalated from the PPLA Service Desk.
    • Act as a conduit for information, training, and escalations between the Service Desk and the Infrastructure Team.
    • Manage escalated Tier 2 and Tier 3 break/fix support issues through to resolution in accordance with strict SLA response times, including documentation per required ITSM processes and policies
    • Work with the Senior IT Infrastructure Manager and team to coordinate and support infrastructure initiatives.
    • Collaborate with senior administrators and Infrastructure team to perform root/cause analyses for key infrastructure solutions.
    • Assist in monitoring and maintaining Cisco CUCM VOIP, including Call Center, Call Recordings, ESXi, and components of the system.
    • Respond to network monitoring and log alerts for network, servers, WAPs and firewalls to proactively support all computing platforms by identifying performance, security, and hardware issues, and responding within strict time frames and escalating incidents according to incident handling guidelines.
    • Assist in monitoring and maintaining data backups using VEEAM and Backup Exec.
    • Test and perform system and data restores using backup tools.
    • Troubleshoot and remediate issues impacting the operation of the Agency’s voice and data infrastructure.
    • Serve as a point-of-contact for service providers and coordinate circuit design, provisioning, installation and troubleshooting.
    • Assist with maintenance of Windows Servers, Active Directory, Azure, DNS, Exchange 2016, VMware, Storage, and networking equipment.
    • Support the routine hardware/software audits of servers to ensure compliance with standard policies, configurations, and up-to-date patching.
    • Perform software installation and upgrades at the direction and guidance of Systems Engineers and IT Managers
    • Ensure high availability of enterprise voice and data platforms that support internal staff business functions and external customer contact.
    • Support the compliance of all software / hardware licensing.
    • Support the accurate documentation for access codes and passwords.
    • Assist with the guidance, documentation and training to PPLA technical staff and other employees on support of implemented technologies.
    • Support Help Desk coverage, after-hours work, and weekend support.
    • Support after-hours work for implementations and upgrades during maintenance windows as directed
    • Follow proper Change Control processes for any work that impacts our production environment.
    • Demonstrate and practice defined testing for all changes in the production environment.
