The Boeing Company is looking for an Associate T-7 Scrum Master/Software Engineer to join our T-7 Mission Systems team in Berkeley, MO. This position will report to the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The T-7 Red Hawk is an all-new, advanced pilot training system that will train future generations of U.S Air Force pilots.

In this role, you will help the teams execute their efforts per the Agile methodology. The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Help the team embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt and apply SAFe Principles, and implement SAFe practices.
  • Support team efforts in relentless improvement by identifying and proposing areas for advancement and uncovering issues affecting team effectiveness that might otherwise remain hidden.
  • Eliminate impediments for the team and be collaborative, ensure a collaborative culture exists within the team, and encourage psychological safety so that the team can have open and honest conversations.

Additionally, this role will also execute software technologist tasking, including software documentation delivery management, IT team engagement and interactions that support team execution as well as support of other general team management activities.

The candidate should exhibit servant-leadership, showing humility and a willingness to do whatever is vital to help the team achieve its goal. In part, this will be accomplished by serving as a role-model and recognizing the value in all team members. The Scrum Master should be committed to following Scrum ceremonies, regular cadence, addressing impediments, and supporting the team in meeting their commitments. They should also actively participate in spreading Lean-Agile mindset within the business unit / organization through coaching, trainings, and participating in Community of Practices across the program. An ideal candidate will have the technical know-how, product, market understanding, and/or other specialized knowledge to help the team pursue its goal. Being able to communicate in a simple and positive manner, and communicate regularly with the Engineering manager regarding team issues will be paramount.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to be the Scrum Master for 1 or more Agile teams
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodology and frameworks like SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
  • Mentorship skills to coach team(s) how to follow agile practices
  • Lead and coach the team to follow Agile practices, apply team level events and artifacts, protect the team from interference, and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement
  • Work closely with the Product Owner and other Scrum Masters in supporting teams
  • Facilitate team events such as daily stand ups, demos/reviews, retrospectives, inspect and adapt, and increment planning
  • Identify, track and address impediments of the team
  • Take responsibility for and understand your commitment to deliver the product on time
  • Communicate with stakeholders and management and help protect the team from interference and expansion of work
  • Work with the team to continuously improve dynamics through iterative assessment and escalate people problems to management when necessary
  • Collect and use team metrics and present them at team and ART-level meetings
  • Experience of software development processes and procedures to guide your team needs
  • Facilitate contract deliverables/documentation in support of Mission Systems Software deliveries

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in related discipline AND 1 or more years’ of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified SAFe Scrum Master
  • 1+ years’ of experience as a Scrum Master
  • Scrum Master experience in an agile development environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience managing projects and utilizing standard project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Gantt charts, MS PowerPoint, status charts, resource load charts)
  • Experience facilitating meetings and presenting to senior leaders
  • Experience with government customers to deliver services and products
  • 2+ years of experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as (or similar to) Git, JIRA, Collaborator, Beyond Compare, and VersionOne
  • Certified SAFe Scrum Master 5.0 or above

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Summary pay range: $48,450 – $65,550
