Job Title: Assistant Program Director, Camp and Family Department: Youth and Family
Reports to: Sr. Program Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Sr. Program Director, the Assistant Camp and Family Director will assist in the supervision of a variety of youth and adult programming. During the summer, they will act as an Assistant Camp Director for Camp Massapoag, a day camp with approximately 300 campers per week. During the school year, they will be responsible for working with the Youth and Family team with the administration, development and implementation of youth and adult programs including teens, family, sports, arts, and STEM. They will work a schedule that may include some evenings and weekends to support programs and events across the association.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities for all ages and skill levels, and/or expanding the program within the community as needed.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Provide leadership to ensure the quality of all aspects of the program.
- Manages the programs, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities, or events.
- Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility with staff and members.
- Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.
Camp Massapoag:
- Assist with camper recruitment by attending camp fairs and community events.
- Manage marketing and camp communications with camper families and staff.
- Plan, Schedule and lead on-site camp events and projects as needed.
- Supervise program staff including hiring, training, scheduling etc.
- Follow established health and safety standards of the YMCA and Dept. of Public Health.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for the Camp department and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Ensure all facilities and grounds are clean, maintained, and safe during camp season.
- Demonstrate and teach the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to all participants and staff.
Youth and Families:
- Establish, implement, and supervise programming for assigned sites.
- Manage marketing and communications with staff and members.
- Secure and maintain program sites, athletic fields, supplies and equipment for effective program operation.
- Supervise program staff including hiring, training, scheduling etc.
- Ensures that high-quality programs are offered, program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with school district administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for the Youth and Family department and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Demonstrate and teach the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to all participants and staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Familiar with ACA and DPH regulations for camps.
- Two years related experience preferred.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Experience with ropes & challenge courses, facilitating and debriefing.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of CPR, First Aid, AED, 51A and Redwoods Trainings.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
