Why does the job exist?
The Attorney I will:
- Assist the Human Services Department (HSD) Child Support Services Division (CSSD) legal unit in establishing paternity and child support obligations.
How does it get done?
The Attorney I will be responsible for:
- Drafting legal documents;
- Reviewing legal documents;
- Evaluating legal documents.
Who are the customers?
- Parties of child support cases;
- Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management and staff.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate has experience:
- Representing clients in court;
- Negotiating settlements;
- Drafting, reviewing, and evaluating legal documents;
- In academic family law.
- Minimum Qualification
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law. Must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license (Rules 15-301.1 and 15-301.2 NMRA). Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
