Job Description

The purpose of this position to work collaboratively with faculty in Audio Production to prepare and maintain clean, safe and properly functioning learning spaces, and to support students within those learning spaces. This position will be responsible for performing basic repairs and general maintenance of all the ARSP equipment, troubleshooting hardware and software issues while aligning to institutional technology standards. This position supports institutional equity and inclusion goals and outcomes. .

Specific duties include:

  • Advise and tutor individuals or small groups of students to aid comprehension and/or completion of program processes, text material, lecture notes, handouts and homework in program area coursework and provide skills and strategies that empower students. Meet with students, instructors, Disability Services/LRC Director, etc. to give input on students’ needs, course requirements, educational plan and goals. Assist ARSP students in registration each term. Provide encouragement, direction and support for ARSP students during times of academic or personal difficulty. Refer ARSP students to Disability Services/LRC Director or HTC Counselors when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with program faculty to develop new ways to meet the needs of students and serve them including evaluation of enrollment data, assess laboratory procedures, develop and promote tutoring opportunities, and create study materials to improve student learning.
  • Perform basic ARSP lab operations including but not limited to: record keeping, monitor and communicate needed supplies, develop reviews and workshops, maintain appearance of labs including resources.
  • Assist instructors (full-time, adjunct, daytime and evening) in preparation for labs and lectures with the setup of equipment used for lecture, demonstrations and lab work.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all labs.
  • Attend program meetings, division meetings, advisory meetings, and IT staff meetings as requested by the supervisor.
  • Attend college-wide workshops as requested by supervisor..
  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain the reputation of the organization and program as a viable business partner. Participation on college committees and activities for the general good of the College or to develop community partnerships.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job):

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in audio production.

AND

  • Two (2) years of work experience in audio production.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter the job):

  • Knowledge of and experience working with multiple software programs, including AVID Pro Tools Apple Logic Pro
  • Knowledge and experience using analog and digital mixers, audio signal processing equipment, repairing cables/equipment, and AVID HDX systems
  • Ability to work independently and with sensitivity to creatively tutor, engage and motivate students, especially those with disadvantages
  • Experience effectively tutoring or training in audio production
  • Mac Computer literacy and the ability to troubleshoot computer hardware problems and audio hardware/software problems
  • Knowledge of data privacy and other legal issues and relevant disability legislation
  • Knowledge of technical college goals and HTC’s mission
