What You’ll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety – Director’s Office/Facility Management (Construction Projects)
Report In Location: 1970 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223 (Shipley Building)
Work Hours: 8:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m
(CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE)

Oversees project construction carried out by contractors working on Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) construction projects to ensure compliance with state & federal guidelines (e.g., coordinates projects & acts as liaison between OSHP post staff & central offices to assure project programming & execution of projects; conducts site evaluations & drafts scopes of work &/or project specifications; consults with contractors & consultants to review proposals, scopes of work & plans; meets contractors on site to execute the work & ensure compliance requirements are being met as well as timelines; troubleshoots problems onsite with contractor or consultant & determines corrective action; determines & evaluates risks that may affect a project; defines specific activities to be performed to produce project deliverables; etc.); Receives & reviews daily maintenance & repair request that are submitted for all OSHP properties to determine planning & programming to move a project forward; Responds to & follows up with OSHP administrators & field staff regarding building related issues, questions & concerns; Handles emergency calls from OSHP that would require stabilizing the situation to protect the safety of employees on site & to prevent any further damage to the property; Routinely inspects all OSHP properties to include OSHP posts throughout the state (e.g., evaluates, collects data & gathers all information needed to determine any building issues such as deterioration, maintenance, safety &/or ADA compliance; writes summary reports & suggests project recommendation actions based on inspections & evaluations; presents findings to OSHP administrators; works with field staff to help determine prevention methods to be established at each location; etc.).

Oversees routine maintenance projects including floor cleaning, carpet installation, emergency generators, etc.; Handles special OSHP equipment such as above ground storage tanks & emergency generators & monitors these programs for yearly inspections & compliance requirements; Establishes programming requirements for OSHP above ground storage tanks & emergency generators; Assists with project budgets & evaluates equipment costs; Assists in the preparation of memoranda, professional service contracts & construction contracts; Assists with bid solicitations & bid tabulations; Encumbers funds, processes purchase orders, changes orders & invoices; Tacks funds available &/or expenditures using OAKS; Makes recommendations on the purchase of new or replacement equipment; Implements &/or maintains project files; Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., answers inquiries & correspondence; schedules, conducts or arranges meetings; prepares required reports regarding project status, funding, &/or other construction topics; administers special projects).

Qualifications
3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. exp. in any one or combination of following areas: design, drafting, cartography, materials testing &/or control, bituminous plant inspection, support surveying activities &/or other comparable engineering technical support function, of which included 1 course or 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in shop math & 1 course or 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in reading blueprints &/or specifications; or demonstrate proficiency.

-OR- Applicants having 2 yrs. training or 2 yrs. exp. in construction project inspection which included at least 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker, qualify; must be able to provide own transportation.
