What You Will Do:
- Conducts all weather passenger transportation flights, aerial photography flights & general utility flights as pilot-in-command or second-in-command
- Conducts a thorough preflight preparation including weather briefings, NOTAM’s, and operational limitations.
- Maintaining adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations in all operations.
- Maintain the highest level of safety in our operations including participation in our Safety Management System (SMS).
- Following Standard Operating Procedures and Standardization with regards to flight processes and profiles.
Who we are looking for:
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate; Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Instrument rating.
- FAA Private
- Current FAA Class II Medical
- Ability to complete Initial and Recurrent vendor training in a Level D full motion simulator.
- Experience with Technically Advanced Aircraft including Garmin Applications and Software and/or Flight Management Systems (FMS).

Official Position Description:
Based on job duties, this position is designated as telework eligible on a hybrid basis (i.e., working at least 2 days per week in the office); the selected applicant must complete the initial training period prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed and must be approved by ODOTs Chief Human Resources Officer.
Plans & conducts all weather passenger transportation, aerial photography & general utility flights as pilot-in-command or second-in-command; oversees & coordinates flight schedule with other departments; performs aviation programmatic activities & aviation safety, aircraft safety & airport safety & security functions; & oversees standardization of flight operations & training of flight crews. Oversees or conducts aircraft preflight planning (e.g., weather forecasts, flight routes, fuel planning, destination weather); adjusts flight profiles in response to dynamic conditions. Ensures compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) & International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations & ODOT flight operation procedures. Conducts post-maintenance checks for flights & training flights. Coordinates aircraft safety & standardization & flight & ground safety programs. Pilots passenger aircraft for enforcement activities (e.g., marijuana eradication missions for Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation to include very low-level flights over fields suspected as being used for criminal narcotic activity); pilots passenger aircraft for Ohio Department of Natural Resources activities (e.g., wildlife transport, fish enforcement, aerial observation). Participates in one or more special program areas (e.g., certifies airports for commercial purposes when criteria for operations have been met; provides information to local officials regarding Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) requirements; uses a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel) to prepare aviation safety & pilot training information for dissemination at FAA seminars; processes aircraft registrations; conducts safety inspections of airports, heliports & seaplane bases; provides technical assistance to airport management in areas such as training, project planning or location, construction & airport safety, security & operations; inspects airport pavement; promotes aviation safety & education through international art contest, annual airports conference & technical training; publishes Ohio Airport Directory, Ohio Aeronautical Chart & Ohio Aviation News & maintains aviation website).
Attends recurrent aircraft training. Demonstrates aircraft proficiency through proficiency checks. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in aviation or related field of study; Commercial pilots certificate with multi-engine & instrument ratings; Current FAA class II Medical Certificate;
