Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Integration Engineer (Associate and Mid-level) to join us as part of our Autonomous Systems team located in Berkeley, MO.

Within Autonomous Systems, the Boeing Airpower Teaming System (ATS) program is developing a new MQ-28 un-crewed aircraft. Using the latest advancements in airborne sensor technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, the MQ-28 will become a force multiplier. It’s designed to work as a smart team with existing military aircraft to complement and extend airborne missions. This team is responsible for the integration of different sensor packages to enable a variety of missions flying independently or in support of crewed aircraft.

The Avionics Integration Engineer will have an excellent opportunity to script the future for autonomous aircraft operations. As a member of the Mission Systems Team, the candidate will work collaboratively with engineers at many Boeing sites and suppliers to develop and integrate mission systems capabilities onto the MQ-28 aircraft. This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Associate and Mid-level

Position Responsibilities:

  • Creation and/or validation of mission subsystem requirements
  • Coordination with air vehicle designers to define physical interface requirements, verify design meets those requirements, support fit checks, and initial installation.
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces to ensure compatibility with the ATS architecture and support electrical harness design.
  • Coordinate logical interfaces to ensure compatibility with the ATS architecture and ensure proper interoperability with other subsystems.
  • Coordinate with subsystem suppliers to monitor status against the supplier statement of work
  • Address subsystem problem as they arise and coordinate with technology domain experts and supplier as necessary.
  • Support planning and execution of subsystem integration as well as lab and flight testing.
  • Act as subsystem representative to the Validation and Verification Team coordinating the development and catalogue of verification artifacts
  • Coordination with Local Technology Domain Experts / Execution of Analysis of Flight Test Data as received from remote test locations.
  • Coordination and Configuration Management of Mission Systems documentation work products

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

Security Clearance :

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. (U.S. Citizenship Required) (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Science, Technology, Engineering, and / or Mathematics
  • Experience with design and analysis of basic Electronic/Electrical Systems
  • Experience in hardware and software integration

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) :

  • 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience developing system requirements, verification plans, functional decomposition / allocation, and interfaces.
  • Experience with avionics subsystem design and integration (Examples include comm systems, flight control computer, ground station interaction, etc.)
  • Communication experience, both written and verbal, with a comfort in public speaking and frequent interactions with external customers
  • Experience with avionics integration and verification
  • Experience working with multi-discipline engineering team
  • Experience working with suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Experience working with USAF or other DOD customers
  • Experience with unmanned vehicles
  • Highly motivated self-starter, must work well in a team environment

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-level (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for Associate: $79,900-108,100

Summary pay range for Mid-level: $96,050-129,950
