The Role at a Glance

The person in this role will provide leadership, direction and expertise for developing holistic internal and external communications strategies and materials in support of Lincoln’s Investments, Hedging, Corporate Sustainability and Risk areas. This individual will provide executive communications support to Lincoln’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and will lead and develop one direct report. In addition, this individual will support media relations, PR and crisis management efforts for Lincoln’s Investments, Hedging, Corporate Sustainability and Risk teams as needed.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and drive internal and external communications strategies to achieve business and communication goals.
  • Provide consultative communications support for two C-Suite executives to foster a strong leadership brand and raise internal and external visibility.
  • Develop and/or direct holistic communication plans including internal and external tactics – e.g., news releases, social media posts, speeches, talking points, internal memos, videos, etc.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and consultative communications guidance to senior leaders and internal/external stakeholders on various complex assignments and projects.
  • Develop and manage internal and external communications responses during crisis communications situations.
  • Help set and manage processes for the team and identify strategic improvements.
  • Establish and maintain benchmark and performance metrics to track communication effectiveness.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments/trends in the Communications space, assess the impact, and incorporate new trends and developments into current and future strategies.
  • Enable and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management.
  • Build and maintain strong and productive business-partner relationships to facilitate the successful planning and execution of strategic communications initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, performance management, and growth opportunities to team members.
  • Serve as a contributing member of the Corporate Communications Leadership Team

What we’re looking for

Educations/Experience:

  • 10+ Years of progressive experience in corporate communications or public relations that directly aligns to the specific responsibilities of the position including managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience and influence.
  • 4 Year/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s) (Minimum Required).
  • Financial Services experience strongly preferred.

Other skills and abilities:

  • Exceptionally strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, the ability to translate complex topics (e.g. information on the capital markets, risk management practices, etc.) into understandable and actionable communications and the ability to develop content for use across channels, including video, online, environmental and other media.
  • Motivated self-starter, resourceful.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to strategically prioritize work in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Strong project management leadership skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment/under pressure, and meeting deadlines. Experience managing multiple projects and work requirements simultaneously and prioritizing as required.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend process improvements, new tools, new ways of doing things.
  • Demonstrates very strong relationship management skills with internal clients (including C-Suite) proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify causes and solutions for conflict. Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes

Pay Range: $118,300 – $215,800

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
