Peraton is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for various future opportunities. We are currently seeking a Sr. Geographis Information Systems (GIS) Developer
Our team supports technical solutions associated with the collection, processing, and exploitation of assured, relevant, and timely oceanographic, meteorological, hydrographic, precise time and astrometric information for the Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC). Candidates who join our team play an integral role in the design, development, and innovative modernization of the IT infrastructure used to provide meteorology and oceanography support to warfighters afloat and ashore. We will maintain, upgrade, and modernize the IT infrastructure to include engineering, software development, administration, and data management.

This is full time on site in Stennis, MS or Monterey, CA with potential telework in the future.
This work includes but is not limited to:
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; the coordination of GIS projects, the installation and configuration of all software that is GIS related, building, and maintaining a GIS system, and the installing, building, and maintaining of a corporate-wide Intranet site to disseminate GIS maps.
- Create and design interactive web pages using any of the following software: ArcMap for various interactive mapping themes, ArcPro (ESRI), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat & PDF Writer, and numerous other programs running on a client’s Intra/Extranet servers.
- Additional responsibilities include: providing any combination of GPS and GIS services to create original mapping, format conversion, infrastructure analysis and facilities management services, database management and report preparation for various customers.
- Projects require a multitude of applications for a variety of disciplines including construction services, utility inventory and modeling, land use analysis, point source pollution identification, hydrographic and hydrologic profiling, digital orthophoto imagery preparation, planimetric mapping services and training.
- Interface with the data management team, understand end user needs and objectives, optimize workflow, research and keep abreast of all available and applicable data, technology and standards for geographic information systems (GIS) output, as well as, integrating internal and external resources (staff, hardware/software, support services) necessary to meet project objectives.
- If appropriate, provide requested data to end users via a database “front end”, Internet GIS or other end user interface for GIS applications.
- Take queries from team members, create projects and print maps and reports.
- Perform a vast array of spatial and tabular queries using the available tools in the GIS software. Import and export any spatial and/or tabular data with the GIS software. Identify, categorize and update major GIS coverage.
- Manipulate and edit in GIS Map software. Prioritizes GIS projects for the GIS team.
- Perform programming in appropriate languages.
- Coordinates with Database Administrator to integrate collected data (tabular, spatial and otherwise) into a comprehensive database.
- Helps coordinate field data collection, accuracy, hardware/software, (GPS, field computers, etc.) and the data flow processes involved.
Qualifications
Required Experience/Education:
- BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5 or HS 14-16 years of experience. Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Earth Sciences, Urban and Regional Planning and 6 years experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years experience preferred.
- Must be a US Citizen and hold a DoD Secret clearance, Top Secret clearance preferred
- 7+ years in GIS and related tools
- Working in agile, software development and production environment
- Systems analysis, development, and implementation using a variety of technologies
- Working with one or more of the following Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Ability to develop applications supported on-prem and in the cloud, including understanding application dependency on operating system, network, web-based, and cloud technologies.
Desired Experience:
- Working with one or more of the following: GeoServer, ESRI ArcServer, ESRI Spatial Database Engine (SDE), REST API, Service Oriented Architecture
- Shell scripting in a Linux operating environment
- Geospatial database design, maintenance, and administration
- Evaluation of compliance with security and metadata standards
- Developing in a High-Performance Computing environment
- Knowledge of Risk Management Framework
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining containerized architectures
- Experience developing within common cloud providers
- Digital modernization efforts to meet net-centric and data-centric objectives
- DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) experience
- Tasking, Collections, Processing, Exploitation, Dissemination (TCPED) process
- Battlespace on Demand (BonD) process
- FNMOC Come and Get It Product Services (CAGIPS) database
- Working with one or more of the following application/Web Servers: Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform (EAP), Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Wildfly, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Working with one or more of the following other Services/Software: Podman, AWS EC2, AWS ECS, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Git, BitBucket, Atlassian Software Suite, Ansible

Target Salary Range
$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
