Background
The New Activity Risk Management function provides unified governance and risk decision making for material changes to products , services , capabilities and business operating models that impact Citi’s clients (collectively referred as “new activities”).
New Activity Risk Management is part of Citi’s Enterprise Risk Management function, within our second line of defense Independent Risk Management unit. New Activity Risk Management works closely with partners in first, second line of defense and enterprise support functions across Citi to provide robust due diligence, review, risk rating, risk decision approval of novel developments in the firm’s business activities and ongoing monitoring of existing products and services, as part of the end-to-end governance over the product life cycle.
New Activity Risk Management operates as a global organization, and comprises of a team of new activity risk management specialists who are co-located close to business partners in the Americas, Europe Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific regions and are responsible for the review, approval and ongoing oversight of new activities at Citi; plus teams with global responsibility for certain cross-cutting functions, such as change delivery, process design, policy, technology infrastructure, reporting and data analytics, product inventory management and product taxonomy. Team members are based in New York, Fort Lauderdale, Mexico City, London, Belfast, Dublin, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Mumbai.
Citi is transforming to modernize and simplify the bank, improving how we serve our clients, changing the way we manage risk and making Citi an easier place to work. The new activities space is an area in which wide-ranging enhancements are taking place currently, within a broader program of change that was started in 2020 and is due to be completed in 2024
Responsibilities:
Support the design and implementation of strategic solutions, processes, and new frameworks that enhance the New Activities Review process, Product Risk Rating and Ongoing Monitory, Product Taxonomy Adoption
Potential Projects include: Product Portfolio Risk Monitoring – Product Inventory and Permitted product management and new activity detection.
Support the execution of remediation with timely and effective outcomes against regulatory expectations
Develop guidelines and training materials to facilitate the implementation of the New Activities Review process, Product Risk Rating and Ongoing Monitory, Product Taxonomy Adoption
Support the oversight and implementation of one or more project teams
Ensure strong ongoing engagement by the Business and Functions that participate in the product approval and governance process in ICG
Update on-going reports providing metrics and updates for monitoring progress and updates to senior management
Create ad hoc reports and presentations, as necessary, for socialization and periodic updates.
Partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts across the organisation (business & functions) to accomplish goals.
Escalate program risks to the Program Manager, when appropriate
Qualifications:
5+ years relevant experience
Strong knowledge of relevant Citi or Banking Industry businesses and products and their risk profile and ability to apply this knowledge to specific situations
Experience in a role that requires problem solving, analytical capabilities, some strategic thinking, project and management
Previous experience supporting experience in risk management, compliance, or governance and controls related roles
Solid organizational skills, ability to multi-task and identify issues.
Excellent interpersonal skills while working across multiple functions and teams. Ability to build effective internal and external networks
Experience working with multi-functional partners and internal stakeholders, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to work under pressure will be critical
Willingness to “roll up sleeves”; tireless work ethic
Ability to communicate clearly, to think and act independently, and to know when to ask for guidance from more experienced officers or specialists
Ability to evaluate, negotiate, structure and / or monitor various aspects of project work-streams
Integrity, honesty, sound judgment, common sense, and attention to detail.
Education:
Undergraduate / Master’s degree(s) with an analytical focus (e.g. finance, economics, engineering, mathematics etc.)
