Summary:
Hitachi’s R&D Center, located in Santa Clara, CA, serves as a pivotal technology hub to support Hitachi’s global Social Innovation business. Our focus spans original and applied research, technology innovation, intellectual property creation, and solving real-world challenges. We collaborate closely with Hitachi’s product and business divisions, contributing to Hitachi’s IoT and AI business across a variety of industries, with a special focus on optimized manufacturing.
We are currently seeking an AWS Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and testing of our Industrial IoT solutions, which encompass both edge computing platforms and AWS cloud services. You will have the opportunity to participate in large-scale, real-world deployments in manufacturing facilities. This position is ideal for a motivated software developer who is passionate about leveraging the transformative potential of Industrial IoT to benefit society.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the ongoing development and testing of a resilient, efficient IoT platform integrated with AWS services.
- Collaborate within a cross-disciplinary team that includes software, network, sensing, and domain experts, building upon existing designs and architectures to add unique features and differentiators.
Qualifications:
- An MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by at least 2 years of industry experience in software development.
- Proficiency in AWS platform and cloud-native services, including but not limited to S3, Quicksight, Cloudfront, RDS, and Lambda is required.
- Experience with managed service and infrastructure-as-code solutions like CloudFormation is a plus.
- Familiarity with data exploration and analysis using BI tools such as PowerBI is required.
- Experience to application development utilizing ML/AI algorithms is a plus.
- Strong skills in Linux and shell scripting are required.
- Experience with Git and adherence to agile software development methodologies are required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $104,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
