AWS Cloud Engineer III

The AWS Cloud Engineer III will help drive the deployment, management, fixing, and reinventing the tools, services, infrastructure and components that the network engineers rely on to automate our network and keep it operational. This position will work with internal customers including network engineering colleagues, and through close collaboration, support, and exchange of ideas, share a common goal to serve our customers and grow through learning and innovation. This role exists to identify and implement optimal cloud-based solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provides technical support for the AWS platform to improve capabilities and ensures optimal operability of ICW AWS infrastructure.

  • Designs and develops cloud-based solutions in AWS that are scalable, highly available, fault tolerant and easily maintainable.
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and maintains software solutions to support the Company’s business and IT Operations.
  • Supports the AWS infrastructure, network services and solutions
  • Drives the creation and documentation of low-level software design.
  • Collaborates with the rest of the engineering team in the documenting of software design.
  • Creates deployment scripts and provides detailed documentation for deploying and supporting software.
  • Participates in and, when needed, serves as Lead Engineer in technical meetings, regular code reviews, and technical planning meetings.
  • Supports container development, deployment, and operations on AWS, specifically with ECS on Fargate.
  • Works with the on-premises team in the migrating of applications and databases to AWS.
  • Assists project/development teams in developing serverless applications, leveraging managed services such as Lambda, Dynamo DB and S3.

Facilitates and supports all technical aspects of projects of small to moderate size.

  • Collaborates in the design, implementation, and testing software associated with deployments.
  • Understands AWS network solutions and services
  • Provides support associated with assigned deployments.
  • Uses expertise to analyze and enhance existing designs and implementations or to generate new designs and implementations.
  • Thinks strategically and proactively to define work breakdowns. Identifies tasks and creates project schedules.
  • Stays current with AWS solutions and 3rd party vendor products, evaluating which ones would be a good fit for the company.
  • Collaborates on the development and refinement of the AWS Platform Operational and Monitoring Services.
  • Works with the On-Premises operational teams on backup, disaster recovery, and migration related initiatives.

Partners with project management and other engineering teams in determining overall system solutions.

  • Applies object-oriented techniques and Agile methodologies.
  • Reviews technical documentation as needed.
  • Partners with DevSecOps team in development of pipelines.
  • Partners with appropriate IT staff to ensure collaboration between on-premises Operations team and AWS platform team.
  • Works with the Systems team to develop a scalable, highly available, and secure AWS strategy.
  • Evaluates other AWS technologies, such as AWS Elastic Beanstalk, that benefit current infrastructure.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required with a major or emphasis in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with AWS in an Engineering, Network, DevOps, or Sysop’s role required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional Certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with creating designs for AWS/Cloud applications and networks. Experience in Software design and Cloud formation.
  • Proficient in at least two programming language including Python, Java, dot Net, C++, or JSON.
  • Hands on experience with AWS Services and understanding of cloud infrastructure and cloud computing concepts such as Lambda, CD/CI, cost estimation, security, etc.
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts and monitoring tools. Cloud native database design and tools.
  • Experience in working with cloud management and monitoring tools.
  • Cloud network tools, monitoring and security tools experience preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools and experience in building large distributed systems.
  • Looking for expertise in supporting highly available applications.
  • Understanding of challenges associated with high availability, 24×7 applications and services.
  • Ability to think critically and create solutions for unique scenarios.
  • Must work well with others in a team environment.

The salary range listed for this position, $98,859 to $176,960, is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. We typically do not hire towards the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package outlined below.
