This position is located in Seattle, WA. Amazon is seeking a Support Engineer to join the Foundational Security & Dedicated Clouds (FSDC) organization. Our organization is accountable for the end-to-end software vulnerability lifecycle across all aspects of AWS. We are responsible for building the platform that monitors intelligence, detects vulnerabilities, drives remediation response, and drives innovation to meet the scale and demand of all AWS customers. Working with teams such as EC2, S3, RDS, CloudHSM, Containers, and Amazon Linux requires us to dive deep into all aspects of first- and third-party software across AWS including Operating Systems, firmware, databases, service/system hardening, cryptography, and audit analysis. We are passionate about diving deep to identify and build solutions that keep our customers safe.

Key job responsibilities
As a Support Engineer, you will drive the security campaigns, find ways to improve and automate our existing services, and provide escalation and mentoring for junior team members. You will be working on large scale programs, managing our Compliance tooling, supporting service teams and developing solutions to remove blockers and optimize tooling. The right candidate for this position has a strong technical background in Linux systems administration that allows them to approach any problem with confidence and ingenuity. They must be a “lifelong learner”, embracing the rapid innovations in technology and understanding how to leverage them to continue to improve our products. They will be customer-obsessed, always looking to understand customer pain points and find resolution quickly and completely. They will be passionate about finding innovative solutions, and work proactively to solve potential problems and inefficiencies. And they must be able to communicate clearly and collaborate with others to deliver results with minimal supervision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
– Experience scripting in modern program languages
– Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
– Experience in agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow
– Experience troubleshooting and documenting findings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
– Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
– Experience analyzing and troubleshooting RESTful web API calls

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $182,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
