Position Summary

Coordinate the development, programming, and implementation of education outreach and volunteer activities for the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum (Balloon Museum) including managing, recruiting and coordinating the expansion of educational programs; volunteer opportunities; and perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, science, or art history; and

Four (4) years of experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining outreach and/or volunteer programs; and

To include two (2) years of supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

May be required to work nights and weekends on occasion.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Principles and practices of program development and administration within assigned area
  • Operational characteristics, services and activities of museums
  • Principles and practices of communications and outreach
  • Basic computer programs, statistical reporting and data analysis/interpretation
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations

  • Create reports and utilize computer programs as needed by assigned area

  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public

  • Design and implement educational and outreach programs
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of City and other governmental officials, community groups, and the general public
