We are seeking a dedicated Bank Growth Engine Director, Planning and Program Management to contribute to immediate and long-term prioritization and intake of Bank Growth Engine (BGE) campaigns/programs, developing a cross-organizational roadmap for delivering high-quality member-facing marketing programs in addition to owning Agile program management of end-to-end campaigns via cross-functional teams.

This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Colorado Springs, CO, Tampa, FL, Chesapeake, VA. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

You will be a people leader leading a team and driving high team engagement and high quality/on-time results. You will lead and motivate cross-functional teams to implement multiple, complex work efforts, as well as develop and manage budget and governance for BGE. In addition, you will develop presentations for executive-level council and steering committee. You will have a strong partnership focus, understanding how to succeed and deliver in a highly matrixed organization. You will partner with senior leaders to ensure BGE is aligned to and influences the Bank’s objectives and overall business strategy.

The Opportunity

You will drive collaboration and coordination across USAA team members to gain alignment around prioritization of key marketing campaigns/programs.

You will develop combined roadmap views to understand impact, risks, and dependencies across USAA. You will facilitate strategic dialogue between multiple stakeholder groups with varying objectives. You will drive governance of campaign execution (including supervising plans & control documents) and will work with marketing, data/analytics, product, audience, content/design, technology teams to ensure campaigns are delivered on-time and on-budget.

You will develop and update the end-to-end framework and guiding principles for key BGE processes. You will develop BGE executive presentations and all reporting; drives key council and steering committee sessions. In addition, you will lead project management portals, workflows, and reporting.

You will ensure the BGE campaigns and offers are following all governance mandates and controls. With peer leader and partners, you will drive capacity planning efforts for agile teams. You will ensure execution of efforts are aligned with corporate strategies, plans and initiatives. In addition, you will identify and lead opportunities for process improvements and automation as well as own 3rd party contracts and oversight of BGE vendors

What You’ll Do:

  • Drives and supervises teams responsible for implementation of multiple, project initiatives that may require enterprise-level access to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives.
  • Leads and coordinates operational planning efforts related to cross-business integration of the work efforts.
  • Consults with senior and executive management and serves as a liaison to internal and external partners on department and enterprise strategies.
  • Facilitates strategic and operational planning and implementation processes to assure that management is knowledgeable of process, goals, objectives and strategies.
  • Monitors, coordinates, documents, and communicates progress toward achievement of business goals, objectives, strategies and action plan results.
  • Provides advice and guidance and negotiates approval of communication materials with executive management and Subject-Matter-Experts.
  • Ensures communications meet established standards of appearance and content and that all logistical requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports and advises management through research and analysis of internal/external business data including industry best practices and competitive information.
  • Applies expert knowledge of work efforts management to ensure efforts meet defined objectives, follow a structured timeline and are delivered on-schedule and within budget, including dashboard monitoring, metrics synthesis and quality assurance methods.
  • Supervises the team’s work efforts and results and ensures team is following and adhering to risk management frameworks; assists with early warning detection, problem triage, solution development and implementation.
  • Leads a highly matrixed environment and builds and maintains relationships with senior level executives.
  • Ensures compliance with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Ensures work efforts plan is created and achieves intended outcome.
  • Defines and controls the overall delivery of work efforts to meet the goals, objectives and success criteria.
  • Leads work efforts deliverables to control work efforts scope.
  • Establishes overall work efforts cadence for communication with impacted stakeholders, and provides framework for underlying work efforts(s) communication plans.
  • Facilitates, sequencing, prioritization and scheduling for work efforts or epic (and supporting work).
  • Participates in work effort closure activities to determine benefit / business impact realization to include retrospective management.
  • Adheres to EPMO processes, procedures, controls, standards, tools and templates (as required).
  • Drives the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA’s Change Management methodology.
  • Identifies/leads existing/emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, supervised, and controlled.
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
  • Builds and supervises a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years relevant experience in project or program management, including planning, tracking and delivery.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing business decisions.
  • Experience providing leadership and management oversight, including planning, organizing, and evaluating work and leading the budgetary process, including performing long-range financial planning.
  • Experience on project and program management and execution experience delivering complex work efforts working with recognized program and/or project methodologies (i.e. Waterfall and Agile).
  • Experience supporting projects with complex deliverables including dependencies across organizations.
  • Extensive understanding of risk management policies and procedures

What Sets You Apart:

  • Experience in leading large-scale prioritization efforts crossing organizations; in-depth knowledge of prioritization methodologies, strategies, and techniques.
  • Prior background in marketing campaign strategy, planning, and prioritization.
  • Track record of navigating organizational complexity
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $115,240-$220,270.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
