Banquet Bartender- Part Time, Banquets (Harrah’s SoCal)

Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering and setting up food and beverage service during Banquets event. He/she assists in the preparation of food service supplies. Reviews orders for proper presentation and completeness prior to delivery and service. Must be able to provide excellent service to every Guest or Banquet Server who approaches the bar (when working behind one). Should handle all cash transaction appropriately during bar shifts.

Qualifications:

  • 6 months to a year working as a Bartender and/or; two years of Banquet Server experience in a similar Facility
  • Must possess Basic English reading and writing skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to identify the most common drink mixes or a capability to learn the Hospitality Industry pouring.
  • Ability to familiarize with wine and spirits menu, service and knowledge.
  • Ability to handle a 27-inch oval food server’s tray, ranging in weight from 20 to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to move throughout the Banquet Facilites throughout the shift.
  • Ability to push and/or pull 40 to 50 pounds on wheels.
  • Must be 21 years of age to be able to pour alcoholic drinks.
  • Must be able to initiate and engage in conversation in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Must present a professional and pleasant appearance that guests will find appealing and approachable in order to engage in conversation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Must be able to get along well with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Must have knowledge of current property events, promotions and attractions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greets and welcomes all guests in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ensures that all food items requested, and necessary supplies are obtained and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Provides direction and support to bus persons.
  • Facilitates the immediate accommodations of guest requests.
  • Prepares and pours all types of drinks for customers and Banquet servers upon request.
  • Processes all cash transactions by accepting money and making necessary change accurately and presents customer with bar receipt.
  • Follows all applicable safety precautions applicable to food & Beverage service areas.
  • Treats guest and co-workers with courtesy and respect.
  • Is at all times appropriately groomed and wears the uniform provided.
  • Ensures that all items are presented in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Clocks guests check out and in.
  • Closes guest checks upon delivery.
  • Serve beverages to guests upon request.
  • Performs side work to include, but not limited to filling sugar bowls, salt/pepper shakers, folding napkins and general organization of storage areas.
  • Complete service preparation functions as required.
  • Know the location off all rooms, suites and meeting rooms, as well as the best route for deliveries.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Be familiar with upcoming events and related hospitality functions, bars and deliveries. Works at a fast pace in a diverse environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist with special events as needed.

Physical, Mental & Environmental Demands:

  • Must be able to work inside and continuously maneuver in and around throughout the Banquet Facilities.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, crouch, push, and pull when necessary.
  • Must be able to handle more than one function at a time by being well-organized and attentive to details.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must fully understand standards of position as management may direct.
  • Must be able to tolerate hot temperatures in the kitchen areas.
  • Able to use hand motion when preparing and pouring all types of drinks for customers and Banquet servers.
  • Able to use hand motion when cleaning and wiping bar counter.
  • Able to bend, pull and carry bar stock to refrigerators and cabinets.
  • Responds to visual and aural cues.
  • Able to complete required paperwork for cash transactions.
  • Able to operate a variety of equipment.
  • Must be able to simultaneously handle the demands of many customers.
  • Must present a pleasant and professional appearance that customers will find appealing and easy to approach in order to initiate and engage in conversation.

Pay: $16.00 per hour plus tips
