Job Description

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

Banquet Set-Up personnel are responsible for arranging meeting rooms in the Convention Center to accommodate scheduled convention groups. Included in this task is the set-up and dismantling of dance floors, tables, chairs, platforms and displays as specified by the Banquet Manager or the Sales prospectus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepares room as specified by the Banquet manager and/or prospectus. Includes (but is not limited to) displacing or dismantling dance floors; setting up/breaking down tables, chairs, platforms and displays.
  2. Transports items needed for functions, such as, dance floors, tables, chairs, platforms, audiovisual equipment, etc.
  3. Maintains all storage facilities of audiovisual equipment, tables, chairs, platforms, dance floors, display equipment, etc.
  4. Helps maintain the spotless appearance of the Special Events Center rooms, i.e. clearing away debris, vacuuming.
  5. Sets up buffet tables, including placement of tablecloths, skirtings, etc.
  6. Places and breaks down movable walls and audiovisual equipment.
  7. Breaks down set-up after function has concluded as specified by Banquet Manager and/or prospectus. Cleans facilities to ensure rapid turnover.
  8. Participates in monthly inventory and counts.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Positions that have contact with the public require the ability to work in a noisy environment, and may be exposed to guests who use tobacco products. Also, non-public contact positions may be required to enter public areas from time to time, in connection with their duties, and may be subject to the same environment.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE: No previous experience required, but helpful

ABILITIES:

1. Ability to read, write and follow instructions in English

  1. Good math skills (Inventory counts)
  2. Basic Computer skills
  3. Ability to work flexible hours based on Convention Center needs.
  4. Ability to lift large objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
  5. Ability to push/pull carts weighing 200+ lbs.

Pay: $16.00 per hour + tips
