Job Description

This opportunity will allow you flexibility! We are seeking experienced bartenders to join our team and in this role we will provide various bartending work assignments ranging from banquets, sports bar, special events, nightclub and more! You choose the shifts that work for you. Base rate of pay of $10hr plus tips.

Position Summary:

Prepare, mix and serve drinks and beverages correctly to either customer’s directly or through serving staff. Assist with patrons in dining room during high and low volume levels. Works well with peers and patrons. Delivers service in an upbeat and positive manner, learns guest’s names, suggests product and services, offers assistance and greets everyone every time, excels in the moment of truth.

Job Description:

  • greet customers and present food & beverage menus
  • make recommendations and answer all related inquiries
  • check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age
  • take orders from serving staff or directly from customers
  • record drink orders accurately into register system
  • prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with standard recipes
  • peel & slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
  • mix and garnish cocktails according to standard specs
  • upsell drink and menu items to customers
  • Transmits orders to kitchen and noting patron’s choice, any special dietary needs and special requests.
  • respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion
  • attempt to limit problems related to customers’ excessive drinking by following established procedures
  • process transactions using the POS system
  • prepare checks for customers
  • process customer payments
  • arrange glasses and bottles into attractive and functional displays
  • ensure clean glasses, bar equipment and working areas
  • comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
  • monitor inventory
  • order and restock bar inventory
  • Assist with delivering food orders when business volumes allow.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains clean work areas, at all times, replenishes stocks at end of shift and completes end of shift duties.
  • Follows outlet policies and procedures to ensure operational flow
  • Follows Spotlight Attributes which are, Welcome, Upbeat & Positive, Delight the Customer, and Provide Warm Farewell and Overall moment of Truth.
  • Knows and promotes customer events and programs and can provide accurate information to our guests.
  • Is knowledgeable of daily chef specials and daily beer specials. Is also knowledgeable of sporting events and locations of sporting events on TVs.
  • Thanks Guests for coming in and invites them back as guests leave their dining area.
  • Arrives for scheduled shift on time, with proper attire on. Uniform must be clean and pressed at all times, with name tag and badge visible.
  • Learns and understands Open Table process.
  • Demonstrates “just say yes” behavior when taking care of employee needs.
  • Learns and demonstrates the requirements of creating a great experience for all of our guests.
  • Know and promotes customer events and programs, can provide accurate information to our guests. (carries you should know, follows suggest standards)
  • EGE all guests and peers they encounter, both in front of house and back of house like wise.
  • Thanks guests for coming, invites them back as guests are leaving dining room.

Knowledge, Skills & Education Preferred:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Flexibility in fingers and hands to operate cash register, pickup glasses, ice scoop and use a shot glass to measure liquor according to procedure. Mathematical abilities, including addition and subtraction. Ability to work with hands in ice for 8 to 10 hour Shifts. Ability to stand and walk for 8 to 10 hours shifts. Ability to work in constricting areas. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Previous bartending experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically mobile.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach above and below shoulder, grip small items (i.e. pens, money, garnishes), bend, stoop and twist while preparing cocktails, stand and walk for up to four hours.
  • Must be able to work in constricted areas.

Licensing and Certification Required:

Employees may be required to obtain a Missouri Gaming Commission license. The initial license is paid for by the employee through payroll deduction. All subsequent renewals for the license are paid by Harrah’s North Kansas City. Employees will be required to attend Serve Safe and CARE classes and certify.
