Overview

The Baseball field/Event Supervisor directs, supervises, coordinates, and acts as a liason for practices and tournaments at the Ford Park Baseball/Softball fields. The position also is responsible to provide staff assistance to the Event and Operations department.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $9 to $14.00.

About the Venue

Ford Fields is comprised of 12 championship-caliber youth softball/baseball fields. Each field has hard covered stands, safety netting, and all-weather in-fields. The complex has one centralized gate, concession stands, restrooms and 1,000 on-site parking spaces.

Ford Fields have synthetic turf infields on all 12 fields to withstand the harsh Southeast Texas weather and the 10,000+ games played each year at the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises assigned staff.
  • Act as a liason to teams and tounaments for the Ford Park Fields
  • Oversee the ballfield operational tasks including, ticket taking, police, cleaners, guest services, and filing injury reports.
  • Ensures field conversions take place at the appropriate times as coordinated with the tournament directors.
  • Inspects and provides field condition updates to the operations department.
  • Acts in a supervisory role and takes reports for safety and security of the ballfields.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all guests including providing courtesy rides as needed.
  • Evaluates and monitors severe weather conditions and acts to evacuate ballfields to provide safety when needed. Position also provides the all-clear allowing guests/players to return to play.
  • Opportunity to work additional events at the Ford Park Complex.
  • Performs other duties as may be designed.

Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Experience in a supervisory role. Preferred sports and safety experience.
    • Knowledge of baseball/softball preferred.
    • Ability to function as a lead worker and directing others to provide guest service and safety.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday’s as required.
    • Ability to enforce facility operating procedures.
    • Ability to maintain regular attendance.
    • Ability to work long hours including a varied schedule of days, nights, weekends and holidays.

    Intellectual/Social demands:

    While performing duties of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time constraints and with moderate to high pressure situations. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following verbal, written or diagram instruction, following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employee in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires frequent use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients. Constant use of the English language verbally, written or reading to read company information and communicate to teams. Frequent use of company provided cell phone, desk phone. Constant use of company radio for communication. Ability to hear and respond quickly in high pressure situations to radio requests from employees, security, etc.

    Physical demands:

    While performing duties of this job, the employee occasionally lifts and moves for extended periods of time. Employee will frequently move about inside and outside various areas of the large facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and supervise the work of employees. Position will require employee to occasionally bend, stoop, or crouch in order to evaluate and inspect equipment and building infrastructure. Employee will be required to operate a golf cart. Employee will frequently lift 30 lbs; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds; and push/pull 150 pounds, as business demands required.

    Work environment:

    The duties of this position are performed primarily outdoors in various weather conditions prevalent at that time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate. Exposure to crowds with hundreds of people in attendance.
