Youth Basketball League Coordinators
Salary $18-$25 per hour depending upon experience
Description: The Youth Park & Recreation Basketball League Coordinator(s) is under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. The coordinator is responsible for the overall direction and supervision of a specific competitive basketball program (Boys Grades 3-6, Girls Grades 3-6, or Boys/Girls Grades 7-12).
Required Knowledge, Skill & Ability:
- Must have knowledge of NFHS rules and playing rules specific to the Park & Recreation Basketball Program
- Must be able to referee youth basketball games
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive to each program location.
Examples of Duties
Examples of Duties:
- Conducts training clinics for referees and scorers/timers (classroom & scrimmage trainings)
- Assigns referees and scorers/timers to games
- Keeps track of referees and scorer/timer work assignments and submits payroll on a weekly basis to the Recreation Supervisor
- Mentors referees as to what areas need to be improved upon/what they are doing correctly.
- Ensures that the basketball courts are properly clear of any hazards prior to all games
- Makes recommendations on equipment , facility maintenance needs to the Recreation Supervisor
- Maintains equipment: Inspects game balls and refills first aid kit as needed.
- Supervises all coaches. Report any problems to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Ensures that coaches, participants and parents adhere to all rules and policies of the Park and Recreation Department.
- Addresses areas of concern by coaches, parents, participants and the general public.
- Evaluates all personnel in the program at the conclusion of the season.
- Attends and assist in the league drafts
- Ensures that you are the last person to leave and that all participants have received a ride home. Under no circumstances are you to give a child a ride home.
- Pick up trash around bleachers, players benches and court.
- Submit weekly articles to the Recreation Supervisor by Monday morning.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Approximate Hours: 8-12 hours/week for 15 weeks (primarily Saturday work, occasional Sunday)
Employment Length: Mid-November thru Mid-March
This position is not eligible for benefits.
