Primary Duty:

The Maintenance Associate is responsible for the maintenance and service on branch company vehicles and equipment within an assigned branch. Perform a variety of tasks on heavy-duty trucks, trailers and other powered machinery. Inspect, diagnose and repair brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions and tires.

Essential Job Functions:

The Maintenance Associate will be assigned duties, based on organizational needs and priorities.

  • Oversee maintenance on trailer reefers and diagnosis of any issues that arise.
  • Complete all maintenance records in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Insure all vehicle documentation is current.
  • Repair engines, run diagnostic tests, find the sources of problems, and then remove and replace faulty parts.
  • Maintain engines check water-cooling systems or clean air and oil filters to prevent engine parts from breaking down.
  • Research and repair engines completely, replacing worn parts, and put the engines back together.
  • Diagnosis vehicle issues and decide whether to perform the needed work or send to another facility that would be more adapt to performing the needed maintenance.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist; bend; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently lift, push or move product that weighs from 1 up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing this position the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and/or vibration.
  • Ability to work from foot to standing and seated powered equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently reach above shoulder: Occasionally grasp objects while manipulate objects with frequently twisting.

Requirements:

  • At least five years’ experience maintaining diesel trucks and automobiles.
  • Experience driving a forklift and other warehouse machinery.
  • Remain calm and effective under heavy work load and emergency situations.
  • Speak with a clear, well-modulated voice.
  • Write legibly using proper sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Highly organized with strong quantitative abilities
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and organize prioritize multiple duties
