A Bench Mechanic job in Wichita, KS is currently accepting applications. This is a contract position with our key manufacturing client. In this role you will Perform the production process required to trim, finish, and produce quality parts. To be considered you will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment is preferred, and Sheet Metal and Core experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Deburrs, trim, clean, route, sand, bond, and rivets parts as required, concentrate on sheet assembly and core as required.
2. Performs handwork on parts as required.
3. Reads blueprints and customer planning to perform required work.
4. Assists in moving parts and tools from one area to another as required.
5. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
6. Adheres to company policies and safety requirements.
7. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
8. Maintains highest standards of quality and quantity.
9. Records required information on planning.
10. Participates in Kaizen events.
Bench Mechanic Qualifications:
Education:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Two to three years of experience in a manufacturing operations environment is preferred.
a. Sheet Metal and Core experience preferred.
b. Sheet Metal Certificate is a plus.
3. Basic experience using a PC and company systems.
1. Ability to use and understand simple and more complex measuring and hand tools.
2. Ability to interpret visual aids.
3. Perform basic shop math.
4. Read and write well enough to understand planning and to record required information into company systems.
5. Ability to operate a forklift.
6. Ability to use a PC to record required information, clock in and out of jobs, etc. Ability to train others on the use of the company systems.
7. Ability to work well with others and in a team environment and communicate well with others.
8. Ability to receive instructions and retain the required information.
9. Ability to receive constructive criticism.
10. Must be able to bond parts.
11. Must be able to read blueprints.
12. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
