The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior-Level Real Time Software Engineer – Requirements Based Test Lead (Virtual) to join the Boeing Enterprise Software Verticals (ESV) group/team located in Hazelwood, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
These systems must meet the highest levels of safety standards, levels of rigor and design assurances required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA),
Department of Defense (DOD) and National Security Agency (NSA) certification authorities as they are deployed on latest Commercial aircraft, Defense platforms and weapons systems, including un-piloted and autonomous vehicles of the future.
The ideal candidate for this role is experienced at leading test planning and execution of the software testing efforts based on requirements to prove that the infrastructure software is operating as intended for safety and security critical application , using rigorous design practices, efficient and automated processes and tools, to delivery on-time, high quality, safety assured and cyber assured software.
Position Responsibilities:
- Champion software testing activities within the organization – Ensure that test cases are traceable to the software requirements.
- Train and oversee testing staff in the best practices to deliver first time quality for new developments and functional enhancements. Ensure a robust regression suite to avoid undetected breakage.
- Monitor, measure, control and report to management on test progress, product quality, test results and test completion.
- Mentor and support the development of team members with training and growth plans.
- Review changes to requirements to ensure the tests are updated to match requirement for change requests, assessing the impact on test plans and schedules.
- Drive the creation of automated test scripts and manual test where automation is not possible or feasible.
- Ensure configuration management of all test artifacts produced and traceability of the tests to the requirements.
- Drive standards and best practices in QA and Testing, champion the adoption of continuous quality improvement through automation.
- Identify Test Automation opportunities, plan the effort, select the tools and ensure training to team.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance Post-Start .

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 10+ years of experience leading Requirements Based Testing initiatives to test software for embedded systems.
- 10+ years of experience leading test efforts for safety critical software per FAA DO-178C or MIL-STD-882E standards or equivalent standard
- 10+ years of experience programming in C, C++ or Ada (C++ preferred)
- 5+ years of experience developing Python scripts for automated functional testing, regression and release testing
- 5+ years of experience developing software using Git for repository revision control and configuration management (CM)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years of experience testing middleware per applications programming interfaces (APIs) to open standards such as FACE (future airborne capability environment) and OMS (open mission systems)
- 10+ years of experience testing software, including device drivers, per aircraft interface standards such as MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, UART, CAN, ARINC 664, RS-485
- 5+ years of experience testing cyber assured software per NSA National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework
- 5+ years of experience developing software as a certified Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe) professional
Typical Education/Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience)
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range: $113,900.00 – $177,100.00
