Description
Being theBilingual Case Manager/CPS Liaison at HAWC you will be and implementing an effective working relationship with Children’s Protective Services (CPS), to improve coordination of services for the Houston Area Women’s Center and CPS clients. This role will serve as the point of contact for CPS’ investigative, family-based, and conservatorship departments. The Bilingual Case Manager/CPS Liaison will assess the survivor’s needs, connect to appropriate services, and advocate to ensure the provision of comprehensive services which meet the identified needs/goals. The Bilingual Case Manager/CPS Liaison will implement services with a trauma-informed, evidence-based, and client-centered approach while assisting clients in working toward self-sufficiency.

- Starting Pay Rate: $21.63hourly

Qualifications
The Requirements We are Seeking:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Public Health, or other social sciences.
- A minimum of one year experience working within CPS, as a Case Manager, working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, or a similar social services setting working with vulnerable populations with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish, able to read, speak, and write both languages fluently.
- You have a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation
What you Deliver in this role:
- You do Pro-active Case Management which includes but is not limited to: Crisis interventions, Motivational interviewing, evaluating/assessing clients to determine their needs, connecting clients with services, such as financial assistance, counseling, or health care, assisting clients in developing plans for addressing their long-and-short term needs and goals, following up with clients to make sure that they are getting the supportive services that they need by establishing a system of weekly contacts with clients.
- You provide support in Co-developing safety and service plans with the designated CPS caseworker, provide accompaniment by attending family team meetings. In addition, provide accompaniment by attending family group conferences, initial meetings with CPS and clients, and conservatorship meetings.
- You conduct parenting classes at the Houston Area Women’s Center’s Emergency Shelter, outreach office, and/or virtually.
- You stay updated on relevant policies and regulations: Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and policies related to domestic and sexual violence, child welfare, and social services to ensure compliance and adapt services accordingly.
- You collaborate with community organizations: Develop and maintain partnerships with local community organizations to enhance support services and referral options for clients.
- You help break down barriers, Mobile Advocacy is required. This includes meeting the client in the community at home, work, or other safe places, etc., and accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
- You work cooperatively with other staff to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient management of the program.
- You work towards constantly improving skills/knowledge related to job duties by seeking appropriate workshops, seminars, and conferences to attend.
- You develop, maintain, and distribute a culturally and linguistically sensitive resource list to support clients and complete appropriate documentation.
