Description

Being a Bilingual Children’s Court Advocate at HAWC, you will provide information, support and accompaniment services to child survivors of sexual and family violence, child witnesses and their families.

Your Schedule:

  • Full Time
  • Monday Friday, 9:00am 6:00pm
  • Work Model: hybrid
  • Local Travel: 50%

Our Total Compensation Package:

  • Starting Salary Range: $40,000.08yearly
  • Pay schedule bi-monthly

Qualifications

The Requirements We are Seeking:

  • A minimum of one year of experience working with children from diverse, vulnerable populations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Victim Studies, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health,or Child & Family Development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish. Able to read, speak, and write in both languages fluently.
  • You have a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation

What you Deliver in this role:

  • You provide information and support to families participating in the Criminal Justice System.
  • You provide crisis intervention to families, as needed.
  • You provide updates on criminal case status to parents/guardians.
  • You conduct home & office visits with children in preparation for court.
  • You provide age-appropriate court orientation to children who may testify in court.
  • You provide accompaniment to children and their families to the District Attorney’s Office.
  • You provide court accompaniment for children and families.
  • You refer families to appropriate health and social service agencies to obtain additional services as needed.
  • You assist with and process applications for Crime Victims’ Compensation for families.
  • You are the liaison with other Criminal Justice professionals.
  • You develop and maintain professional working relationships within the Criminal Justice System, with referral sources and other significant professionals.
  • You keep current a comprehensive list of referral resources available to clients.
  • You staff the office at CAC as assigned and participate in case review as needed.
  • You evaluate services to clients and make recommendations to Manager
  • You prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
