Description
Being a Bilingual Counselor -Domestic Violence at HAWC you will be responsible for providing services with a trauma-informed, evidence-based, and client-centered approach to adult and child survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The Bilingual Counselor will facilitate group and/or individual counseling services at HAWC Survivor Empowerment Centers located in strategically identified locations in the Houston community.
Your Schedule:
- Monday – Friday
- 9am-6pm, three days; 12pm – 9pm, two days
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays as needed for assigned sessions and requested sessions on an as-needed basis.
- Work Model: hybrid
- Local Travel:25%
Our Total Compensation Package:
- Starting Pay Rate:$45,000 yearly

Qualifications
The Requirements We are Seeking:
- Bachelor’s Degree inSocial Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
- A minimum of one year of experience providing counseling services to adults.
- Experience working with groups preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Able to speak, write, and read both English and Spanish fluently.
- You have a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation
What you Deliver in this role:
- You provide group and/or individual counseling to survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.
- You work cooperatively with other staff to ensure optimal utilization of resources and efficient management of the program.
- You report suspected and prior abuse/neglect to either Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services when appropriate.
- You advocate with other agencies on behalf of adults and children.
- You provide referral information, counseling, and emotional support in a non-judgmental, non-directive manner to clients.
- You model and teach nonviolent discipline and conflict resolution skills to adults and children receiving services.
- You provide written information and recommendations on issues that arise while providing services.
- You communicate concerns about clients to supervisor.
- You maintain accurate records and appropriate documentation of services.
- You implement all program evaluation to ensure effective programming.
- You help break down barriers, mobile advocacy is required, this includes meeting the client in the community, work, or other safe places, etc. and accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
