Duties
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Branch Supervisor, Landlord and Tenant, supervises four direct reports and indirectly supervises at least fifteen staff. The incumbent runs the day-to-day activity of the branch and implements and evaluates vital administrative, managerial and supervisory programs and functions to fulfill the Courts’ strategic plan, and to enhance the operational efficiency of the Superior Court in Civil matters.
- Manages overall day-to-day branch operations to meet the tactical objectives and key performance indicator targets derived from the division’s Management Action Plan (MAP) and the Courts’ Strategic Plan.
- Monitors and analyzes the performance of case activity in meeting time standards and reports findings to the Branch Chief.
- Processes sealed and confidential cases or information pursuant to procedures.
- Analyzes and makes sound decisions in the interpretation of case activity and recommends appropriate resolution of issues.
- Evaluates rules, policies, procedures, and practices impacting the branch and implements best practices, business processes, and standard operating procedures for efficient case processing and effective customer service.
- Submits reports to the Branch Chief, including, but not limited to those pertaining to: budget, caseload inventory; management action plan objectives; key performance indicators; and personnel actions, all of which may be statistical, narrative, or advisory in nature.
- Manages branch staffing and logistics to ensure effective operations and a safe work environment. Provides direct supervision of direct reports and indirect supervision of all other branch employees; plans, delegates, and evaluates work to be accomplished by subordinates; and setting and adjusting work priorities.
- Assesses employee training needs; develops and maintains training materials and procedural manuals; and identifies, recommends, and implements training and development opportunities for staff.
- Provides administrative and technical assistance and procedural information to attorneys; judicial officers and staff; partner agencies; other Court personnel; and the general public.
- Oversees branch operations in the absence of the Branch Chief.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma with at least eight (8) years of experience in an office, public service agency, court, or legal environment, plus one (1) year of supervisory experience, or successful completion of the DC Courts’ Management Training Program. Graduation from the Courts’ Management Training Program may substitute for one (1) year of supervisory experience. You must provide documentation of your management training (i.e. copy of certificate) with your application.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred applicants will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in legal studies, business, public, or human resources administration or a closely related field with four (4) or more years of experience in a general office, public service setting, or legal environment of which at least two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.

Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year.
Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four(4)hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.
In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month. There are 26 pay periods in the year.
