Department Summary
Campus Planning and Facilities Management (CPFM) is a vibrant department, which comprises five units, and approximately 270 employees: Facilities Services, Utilities & Energy, Campus Planning, Office of Sustainability, and Design & Construction. Facilities Services (FS) is responsible for the management of human, financial and material resources, the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures related to the operation, maintenance, repair and minor renovation of university buildings, grounds and infrastructure systems. These services provide the University of Oregon community with a safe, efficient, reliable, functional and aesthetically pleasing learning environment in support of the University’s mission and vision.
Position Summary
The Building Automation Systems Analyst and Programmer will be responsible for providing support in maintaining network level communication and processes between the campus Building Automation Systems (BAS) and the campus IT infrastructure. This position will perform network analytics, and maintain and update communications configurations between BAS control equipment. This position will also be responsible for analyzing and maintaining the BAS systems databases, updating associated program logic, and performing BAS level network troubleshooting and repair. The Analyst Programmer will provide recommendations to Facilities Services leadership to contribute towards the long term goals and success of effective and efficient operation of the University of Oregon’s HVAC and Building Automation Systems.
The Building Automation Systems Analyst and Programmer works in conjunction with a diverse campus community including Building Liaisons, major auxiliary groups such as Student Life (Housing, University Health/Counseling/Testing, Student Union), Athletics, etc.
The position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently. Decisions affect best practice methods and materials necessary to perform particular technical tasks performed by the BAS crew.
Work is reviewed directly by the BAS Superintendent to ensure it is performed efficiently and safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.
This position may occasionally require a flexible shift.
On-Call Rotation:
This position may be required to serve on-call duties on a rotational basis. This may include responding to emergencies during off hours, including weekends and holidays. On site, response to campus is expected within 45 minutes from the time of the call, if needed. Communication is via a cellular phone.
Driving Requirement:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver’s certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.
Essential Personnel:
This unit may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must become certified for confined space entrant and attendant within three (3) months of employment.
• This position requires On Call rotation.
Minimum Requirements
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working or consulting on a campus of higher education.
• Formal training and demonstrated service level experience in proprietary BAS systems (SIEMENS, Johnson Controls, Alerton).
• Oregon Electrical License-Limited Energy Technician Class B (LEB) or higher license.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems architecture (management and development).
• Experience navigating, troubleshooting and performing problem resolution of control communication protocols including, but not limited to: BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Modbus, and TCP/IP, as well as Siemens, Johnson Controls or Alerton.
• Experience developing and maintaining a virtual and/or physical SQL server.
• Experience writing complex SQL including stored procedures, views, or functions.
• Experience implementing BACS optimization measures and programming.
• Experience managing, integrating, updating and altering Building Automation Systems.
