SPECIAL NOTES:
BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field is preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification will be an advantage and is preferred.
Requirements:
- Five (5) or more years’ experience as construction project manager.
- Five (5) or more years’ experience coordinating the process of issuing State Building Permits.
- Five (5) or more years’ experience coordinating work of various trade workers.
- Ability to evaluate progress of a construction project and prepare detailed reports.
Additional preferences:
- Familiarity with construction/ project management software
- Experience with construction operations and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Experience with engineers, architects and discussing the specifications of a construction project.
- Experience with consensus standards for fire related equipment.
This position will be filled at $25.00 per hour. The average work week will be 10-15 hours.
The location of each construction project will be at the Florida State Fire College, 11655 NW Gainesville Road, Ocala, FL.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

- Ability to display excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to be a team player with leadership abilities
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Experienced Building Construction Specialist plan and supervise a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. You will organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- An excellent Building Construction Specialist must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills.
- The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.
