11:00 pm – 7:30 am, five days a week based on the need of the department
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of the BES Supervisor at this level is to supervise all of the 3rd shift housekeeping functions for the University Recreation department, including the oversight of 10-12 SHRA BES Technician positions working in both the University Recreation Center and Belk Gym facilities totaling over 300,000 square feet.
This position is designated “essential personnel” requiring the individual to report to work as designated by policy. In addition this position is a working supervisor position with responsibility for aiding in day to day cleaning of facilities.
University Recreation staff will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the University, contribute to the health and wellness of all patrons that it serves and be accountable to the department by contributing to a positive, friendly work environment that encourages, enhances and demonstrates collaboration, teamwork and professionalism among staff, students and patrons on a daily basis.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED , and one year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and three years experience in the area of work assigned, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Job Duties
- Train and develop staff members supervised by this position.
- Develop and implement clear daily work priorities for BES staff in Belk Gym and the University Recreation Center. Determine work priorities and ensure daily work is properly assigned and to ensure quality workmanship. Work with all BES staff to effectively communicate and determine objectives, establish work standards, and set expectations and goals to meet facility needs consistently.
- Implement cleaning products within the guidelines of university protocol through Environmental Health and Safety. Perform routine building tours to inspect cleaning and safety efforts. Be willing to share knowledge and resources and engage in open communication, while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Assist in inventory control of all building services supplies and products.
- Follow all established safety and risk management guidelines, policies, and procedures. Stay updated with all safety standards and report any incidents to your immediate supervisor promptly.
Other Work Responsibilities Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Previous experience with staff supervision.
- Knowledge of best practices and procedures related to cleaning and facility upkeep.
- Previous experience cleaning in a collegiate athletic, recreation, and/or event venue environment.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications
Where applicable, must be eligible for required certification.
