Our Facilities Maintenance Department has an immediate opening for a dedicated Building Maintenance Technician I to maintain our City buildings that require constant support and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities: and performs semi-skilled manual work involving building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and drywall, masonry, custodial, or other maintenance projects. Assists in ensuring that the operation, construction, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and systems are incompliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards: conducts maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs; and initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. We are looking for a professional who can take the initiative and help anticipate problems before they occur. Must be able to communicate effectively with City staff, coworkers, vendors, and anyone else he or she encounters on the job.

As the new Building Maintenance Technician I you will be responsible for performing skilled and complex daily activities in the maintenance, repair and construction of public facilities and other structures to include HVAC.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform complex maintenance and diagnostic services for masonry, carpentry, plumbing,electrical, and similar systems maintenance, repair, or construction of City facilities orstructures.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains door hardware.
  • Installs, repairs, and finishes drywall.
  • Installs and repairs various types of flooring.
  • Installs and repairs drop ceiling tiles.
  • Installs wall-mount TV’s, dry erase boards, and pictures.
  • Installs, moves, and repairs furniture.
  • Estimate and procure compatible materials and tools required to performmaintenance,
    repair and construction-related functions.
  • Maintain appropriate work records and documents, including work orders and formal and informal inspections.
  • Prepare and process daily work reports, inspection reports, work orders, requisitions,
    sketches, etc.
  • Inspect facilities to identify maintenance and repair requirements and priorities.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency service calls, diagnoses problems and makes minor repairs.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenanceproblems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience in performing carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, masonry and minor construction maintenance and repairsor an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must possess and maintain valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Work Location: 5 Interchange Court Work Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
