Bus Aide

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

SUPERVISES:
Students and/or areas as assigned by the appropriate
administrator

JOB GOAL:
Assist the Driver to ensure the safety of students who
are being transported

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance
with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Bus Driver(s), Transportation Supervisor,
and Transportation Clerk to aid a student in line with a
student’s I.E.P.

Assist students with physical disabilities on and off the bus using the

wheelchair lift or other adaptations as instructed – Battery or hydraulic

powered

Monitor students with disabilities while they ride the bus to ensure
their safety and assist them with any physical needs

Have physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and
managing preschool and special needs children when necessary

Make sure that students with disabilities are safely left with a
school staff member or their parent/caregiver before departing

Properly handle wheelchair tie-down straps and other safety
equipment as needed

Deal with students in a friendly manner, even the occasional
unruly student

Deal with occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids

Assist the Bus Driver with other duties as requested by the Bus Driver,

Transportation Supervisor, or Transportation Clerk

Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies and procedures

Perform other duties as directed
