Bus Driver – PTS
Position Profile
Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt
Salary: Starts at $15 – $18 per hour
Location: Senior Center
Hours: Typically Monday – Friday; varied schedule
(1-4 hour shifts/day, (some split shifts) and 3-8 hour day trips 1-2 trips per month)
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Senior Center Recreation Supervisor
Recreation Division
The Recreation Services Division has the responsibility for managing all recreation facilities and providing a variety of affordable recreation programs and services for all age groups and people of all abilities. The staff in this division are responsible for the management of facilities such as, the Senior Center, and the Outdoor Center, as well as other City park buildings and recreation facilities such as swimming beaches, sledding hill, amphitheatre and facilities on school property that are operated in partnership with the School District.
Position Details
The bus driver position will drive the city vans and bus to safely transport seniors on trips, shopping and rides to and from the Senior Center. Drivers also occasionally are scheduled to transport participants to/from other City programs. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Ensures passengers receive safe and timely transportation for special events and activities by following training and safety guidelines, protocols and procedures.
- Provides caring and compassionate assistance to passengers by ensuring riders receive a welcoming and excellent experience.
- Completes pre and post-inspection of the bus and equipment and maintains daily driving logs.
- Maintains a valid MN driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Attend safety trainings as scheduled.
While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Position Requirements
Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent (G.E.D) required. Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record required.
Work Experience: Must be 18 years or older; driving experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 50-75 lbs, and operate a motor vehicle.

Pre-employment Process
The City of Eden Prairie conducts professional reference and criminal history checks for all employees joining the organization. In addition, the following is required for this specific position: driver’s check (must have valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record), pre-employment physical, and drug/alcohol test. All final candidates must successfully complete and pass the pre-employment process before their first day of employment.
