Why does the job exist?
Position performs diagnostics and repairs of light automotive gasoline and heavy-duty diesel equipment.
How does it get done?
Diagnose problems, perform repairs, overhaul trucks, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment. Prepare purchase requisitions for parts, supplies, labor and parts estimates on repairs with management approval.
Who are the customers?
The repairs are for the benefit of the employees of District 2 so the vehicles used to maintain the roadways are in good working order.
Ideal Candidate
Diesel and gasoline engine repair and diagnose problems experience, both heavy and light duty.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of experience in diagnosing and repair of light and heavy equipment to include gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical system diagnostics and repair, preventative maintenance and automotive skills to include brakes, air systems, transmission and suspension. Some welding experience may be required. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of “semester hours” in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
Successful pre-employment physical and drug test; must obtain Class A CDL within six (6) months of hire, must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a shop environment but may be required to work outdoors. Work with and around equipment and materials. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. 24 hours call out during adverse weather conditions. May also work in an office setting. Must be able to respond to emergency callouts on short notice.
