Business Analytics Specialist

Microsoft Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) has an immediate opening for a Business Analytics Specialist to join the Analytics and Operations (A&O) Team of HR Legal. A&O partners with attorneys, paralegals, and program managers across the practice groups in HR Legal-U.S. Immigration, Employment Law, Global Employment and Migration, and Employment Policy & Compliance-to support programmatic initiatives related to our global workforce including workforce planning initiatives, external staff, global mobility and immigration compliance, employee privacy, cross-border change management, mergers and acquisitions, background screening, diversity, and the future of work. A Business Analytics Specialist drives the Business Intelligence (BI) roadmap, vision and strategy to fulfill business needs, accelerates the execution of HR Legal BI roadmap, and helps the team achieve their most important strategic goals. You will collaborate with domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Program Managers, and Engineering to define and deliver business improvements through transformative data analysis solutions.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience managing cross-functional projects and presenting data to leadership teams and various stakeholders
  • Experience using PowerBI, Excel, DAX, SQL, and equivalent data analytics tools
  • Experience with complex data modeling and analysis methods

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working effectively, meeting demanding deadlines, prioritizing work-flow and adjusting to frequent workload fluctuations.
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Experience working with diverse teams.
  • Experience working in a Customer Centric role
  • Analytical problem solving, experience dealing with ambiguity and moving forward based on solid assumptions and risk mitigation

Business Analytics IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 – $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 – $213,200 per year.

  • Builds deep understanding of HR Legal business areas to create and execute business analytics roadmap.
  • Leads the execution of annual HR Legal budget and forecasting process by completing analysis, modeling and research to support forecast cycles, and soliciting insight from business stakeholders.
  • Understands existing and anticipates changes to business data requirements and develops analyses by integrating mathematical and predictive analyses, operations research, and business analysis skills.
  • Designs clear and compelling presentations of analytic results that tell engaging stories via dashboards, data visualizations, slides, and/or talking points that focus audiences on the most relevant insights and their business implications. Presents to leadership team and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Develops and fosters working relationships across Microsoft and external teams to ensure data quality and data model accuracy, as well as the appropriate application of analytical tools and processes, and drives their adoption, to facilitate relevant insight generation, reporting, and interpretation.
  • Drives continuous improvement for more efficient features, processes, and/or analysis tools and resources across teams that makes interpretation of data more efficient, accessible, discoverable.
