Business Architect

Overview

IDG is seeking an experienced Business Architect to join their IT team. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the Business Architect plays a key role in developing and creating a common understanding of the enterprise by applying architectural principles to clearly articulate its business capabilities, governance structure, and supporting processes using a holistic approach.

The Business Architect will be supporting the transformation of our back-end systems which include EPM (Enterprise Performance Management), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and HCM (Human Capital Management) platforms.

Work closely with subject matter experts in our business to understand their environment, objectives, strategic direction, and needs. Combining your business acumen with your business process engineering and information systems knowledge, you will capture problem statements, define future states, identify gaps and requirements, and work with technical SMEs to design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end processes that fall within the domain (E.g.: Quote to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report. Hire to Retire etc.)
  • Map the relationships between information systems components (i.e., end users, business processes, applications, data, IT platform hardware/software, and networks)
  • Identify key interactions and dependencies across separate systems and platforms
  • Evaluate the total cost of ownership and return on investment of various architecture alternatives.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of key processes, including their inputs, outputs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Align key processes with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives through collaboration with business process owners and senior management to ensure that the process supports the overall business strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design key processes starting with the quote to cash process.
  • Work with business owners to implement process enhancements to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Analyze business problems and propose innovative solutions based on rigorous data analysis.
  • Collaborate with onsite and offshore business and technical teams to create solutions for complex internal business operations.
  • Manage stakeholders and foster timely, data-driven decision making.
  • Utilize data analytics to generate insights for optimizing revenue generation and customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with Sales, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, Legal and HR teams to gather feedback and align key processes with organizational goals.
  • Develop training materials and conduct workshops to educate teams on business processes, ensuring widespread understanding and adoption.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in your domain.
  • Ensure business processes adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, minimizing potential risks and ensuring data security.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field .
  • 7-10 years of proven business experience as a Business Architect.( Prior experience in the Quote to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report. Hire to Retire processes is a strong plus.)
  • Three or more years of experience in Enterprise Architecture.
  • Proficiency in process modeling and documentation tools.
  • Experience leading merger and acquisition projects is desireable.
  • Experience with custom application development projects using Salesforce and Salesforce CPQ, and Dynamics 365.
  • Subscription management, order management & fulfillment and payments/invoicing systems experience.
  • Excellent problem solver and independent thinker who can create innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and management skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both business executives and technical teams.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, empathetic, flexible, and forward-thinking.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration.
  • Passionate about technology, digital transformation, and business process reengineering.
  • TOGAF 9/10 certification (preferred)
  • This role is based in our Needham, MA location with a hybrid work schedule. We will consider remote US approved locations for qualified candidates.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $141,000 and $175,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
